In today's society finding your self worth and image is a total struggle. I mean I look in the mirror and immediately point out all the tiny imperfections: the scars of acne, the stretch marks that dance along my stomach, the dark spots painted across my skin and etc.. As I write this a face-mask graces my face, fixing my tainted shell. It's hard in this image based world to see yourself as a masterpiece, to fully believe you are a creation of utter perfection and love when all people notice is your blemishes. We allow these little devils to pick-away at ourselves until there is nothing left but a blank canvas of who we were. But you see every little imperfection we believe is actually a work of pure artistry.

The areas of distaste you see are actually small specs of paint that are apart of the magnificent canvas, that is your life. Yours and my canvases are filled with infinite colors with different shapes and images crafted on. You were crafted and molded into the beautiful person you are with talents only you accomplish. You were gifted with thoughts, feelings and passions that no one else shares. You and I, we are masterpieces! Do you understand that? In this broad universe that God has created with such intricate and complex detail, he designed every one of us with such peculiarity and love that we cannot comprehend.

So if you ever doubt yourself do this simple thing, make a list of who you are and what talents you have. For example: I am a creator, a author and a craftswoman. My canvas is my writing, my brushes are my words, my paint is my daily experiences and my easel is my passion for storytelling. God gave me the gift of writing, to put words on a page that convey such feelings deep inside yourself that makes you question things; that makes a idea or concept become more visual in your eyes and ignites that little spark in your eyes.

So I am a artist and masterpiece, what are you?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
