This week I am digging up some fresh info regarding the recent news of an up and coming pop star. This artist goes by the name Fancy, and his debut single is ironically titled, "Goodbye." His YouTube channel, Who Is Fancy? posted a simplified music video solely displaying the words "Who is Fancy?" lit in blueish neon for an entire 3 minutes and 26 seconds. Other posts include a few 16 second videos showing different individuals walking down what looks like a backstage alleyway at a studio.

According to Brian Cantor of Headline Planet, CEO of Big Machine Label Group, Scott Borchetta, released brief information about a new up and coming star, Fancy, at Billboard's September 2014 iHeartRadio festival. Following the news, the artist has been networking with his new fan base on Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook under the name "Who is Fancy?" and encouraging them to describe what makes them fancy.

"Goodbye" as a pop ballad is good, but it is not great. There are moments where Fancy's lyrical style is fitting, and his music matches the emotions behind the words describing a break up. However, the song fails to provide a new perspective, or even an interesting musical element, to bolster his mysterious appeal. Borchetta predicted Fancy to be a shining star in 2015, but that may be only achievable for a glimpse of time via internet searches and Instagram followers.

New information by mjsbigblog.com has surfaced indicating Borchetta and Big Machine Label Group (BMLG) have created Fancy as part of a new experiment in crossing genres, which has had recent success with Taylor Swift's 1989 album. Fancy is not so fancy after all. His name is Jake "Fancy" Hagood, and he is a singer-songwriter from Nashville, whose previous singles are of the country pop genre. His songs are pretty good, and you can enjoy them here. In fact, these are the only official songs I could find, which is a curiosity considering he recorded a song co-written with American Idol Season 12 runner-up, Kree Harrison.

Now that we know who Fancy was, we can start to ask who Fancy is. At first cloaked in mystery, Fancy will have most people intrigued with his great vocal talent, slightly meaningful lyrics, and cliche sound. But that intrigue cannot last too long before people everywhere begin to question BMLG and Borchetta's way of transforming this potentially successful country singer-songwriter into an elusive pop artist with a catchy tune.
