There are so many things in life I question; why is it that the ones we care about never seem to care about us? or why it seems that once one thing goes wrong, the whole world begins to fall apart. I'm sure I'm not the first and I know I won't be the last, but in these times when I find it hard to write, or express what I'm feeling, I cling to the words of others for comfort. So I've compiled a list of quotes by my favorite writers, poets, and books to help bring some clarity, if only for a little while

1. "Things never happen the same way twice, Dear One." - C.S. Lewis, The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe. This is one of my favorites in the whole book, I believe this is the part when Lucy questions how she'll get back to Narnia, she obviously assumes through the wardrobe, but Aslan is quick to remind her that she can't just go looking for Narnia, it will find her. I love this, it reminds me that sometimes, in order to get to a place that we truly want to be in life, we have to be willing to take different paths and be open to new experiences, we must also not get so caught up in this ideal place, that we don't take time to enjoy the journey.

2. “Some can’t be that simple”- Flannery O’Conner, Good Country People. This is one of my favorite short stories of all time. This phrase is said about good country boy Manley Pointer and if you haven’t read it, I won’t spoil the ending or any of the story. Let’s just say, that not everyone is exactly who they appear to be.

3.”I desire the things which will destroy me in the end”- Slyvia Plath. I love the way Plath writes, because she’s never afraid to say what we’re all thinking, we all have something or someone that will always get the best of us.

These are just a few of the words that are so dear to my heart, I hope it gives you some extra encouragement today

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
