I bet I just pulled this game from the recesses of your mind. You probably didn't even remember you did this.
In 2008, Nintendo came out with a game for DS called 'Style Savvy.' The gameplay involved opening your own boutique, styling fashion models, and styling the customers that came through your store.
Each customer had a style you could see, and they would only like clothes from certain brands.
You could also dress your character with these brands too. And I don't know about everyone else that played this game, but I took my avatar's look pretty seriously.
Anyway, I've been thinking about 'Style Savvy' recently and thought it would be fun to write an article about a fun, childhood game and relate it to our current styles!
Without further ado, here is what I think your favorite brand from the game as a kid says about you now:
GXS - "Sporty, athletic styles"
You probably only wear exclusively Adidas, Nike, or some other sporty name-brands. You probably played volleyball in high school.
Dazies, Marble Lily & April Bonbon - "colorful, frilly, quirky fashions"
I feel like if you liked Dazies you probably cosplay a lot. Or you're at least into anime.
AZ-USA - glamorous, glitzy looks
Honestly, you're the kings and queens of glam still to this day. That probably means you dressed a little funky in your middle school days, but you definitely grew out of it. People are jealous of your style on social media.
Alvarado - "high-end, celebrity fashions"
You either wanted to be a movie star when you were younger or you now exclusively wear crazy expensive name-brands (or dupes) and look super expensive. Or both.
Terra - "earthy, boho-chic, and free-spirited styles"
You're a granola girl now. Sorry, I don't make the rules (okay, yes I do, but am I wrong?)
Karamomo - "Asian-inspired styles"
If your favorite brand was Karamomo, you're probably straight up rocking the traditions of your family and culture. And if you don't identify as Asian, you best not be culturally appropriating! Hopefully you're into eastern-style patterns and such, but not to the point where you're appropriating or offending anyone.
Epoque - "delicate styles with vintage charm"
You've definitely copped some seriously cool pieces while thrifting and you have mad style. However, I feel like Epoque garments were super hard to style, so I feel like your outfits may be a biiiiiiit off now that you're older just because of the game's unconscious influence.
Capsule - "fab, retro fashions"
You hate fast fashion, buy most of your clothes second-hand, and you're probably a media major. You're always stunting, though.
Raven Candle, Mad Jack, and Masquerade - "edgy, gothic styles"
You definitely went through a phase where you shopped exclusively at Hot Topic. You may or may not still be a die-hard emo to this day, and to that I say, power to you. You may or may not have gone through an emo/scene phase.
Penbridge - "preppy, smart pieces"
You went to private school. Or the main outfits you wear are those matching sets that Cher wears in Clueless.
Sonata - "Soft, refined, and sophisticated styles"
You really wanted to grow up when you were a kid, and now that you've grown you hate it here. Understandable. Also I feel like this style range nowadays ranges from Tik Tok trends, to plain trendy, and some light thrifting.
Pure Cloth - "basic styles for a simple, versatile look"
You either enjoy a good, plain outfit or shop exclusively at Old Navy. Or both.
Anyways, I hope you enjoyed this blast from the past!
I think my favorite was Sonata as a kid, although I also remember dressing my character in the tube tops a lot. It honestly explains my current love for crop tops! This game truly helps us form our fashion tastes.
Did you turn out how I thought you would be based on your favorite 'Style Savvy' brand?
