Boredom can be crippling. Sure, it's easy to pull up Netflix or some other streaming service and binge watch a TV show. When you get bored of that show, you can move on to another and the cycle continues. What if no show or movie seems appealing though? Here are seven things you can do besides binge watch TV shows.

Read something random.

Pick a topic. Anything. Literally anything. Got it? Now throw that sucker in a search engine and learn everything you can about it. You'll be surprised what you uncover and then you can wow your family at dinner with all your facts about polar bears.

Draw or color.

If you need a mental break, drag out the pencils and crayons. Whether you're artistic or not, drawing and coloring can be enjoyable and relaxing.

Learn an instrument.

This one is a little more challenging because you may not have an instrument readily available right at the moment, but if you do learn it! There are plenty of videos on the internet that makes learning easier and more convenient for busy people. Plus, you'll be able to serenade your loved ones--even if your desire is to learn the bagpipes.

Play a board game.

Call me old fashioned, but I feel that in the digital age we're in, board games don't really get that much attention. There are some really fun games out there: Your classics like Uno and Monopoly. Weird ones like Cards Against Humanity and Secret Hitler. Even longer, more complicated ones like Dungeons and Dragons and Risk. Just grab some friends, find a table, and whip out a good old game board for some fun.

Take a walk.

Another more therapeutic option. Go outside and breathe that fresh air. Trust me, it feels really good, especially if you've been cooped up inside all day. Look around. Take in the sights. Watch the wildlife. It can turn your day around.

Pick up another language.

An option made easier by the digital age. There really is an app for everything. Just one free download is all it takes to throw yourself head first into a whole new language and culture.

Discover some new music.

Ask for some song recommendations from friends. Delve into a whole new genre. Step back in time. Listen to something you normally wouldn't. You never know, you might find something you really like.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
