Why Weimaraners Are The Best Dogs

Weimaraner is probably a term unfamiliar to you and unpronounceable by most. This particular breed of dog, however, truly stands out from the rest of our beloved canine companions. In fact, chances are that that you have seen quite a few Weims in your lifetime (they are regulars on Sesame Street, after all). Also known as the Gray Ghost, Weimaraners can be distinguished by their striking silvery coat and brilliant blue or golden eyes. Not only are these dogs beautiful and unique, though: they are also loyal, hilarious and the best dogs ever! Here are just a few reasons why you should adopt one and how:

1. Weimaraners are funnier than any person you have ever met.

There is not a single breed of dog with more personality than a Weim. They have a signature tap dance they perform for you when they get excited; they stare you in the eyes and bounce on their paws until you follow them or give them what they want. Weimaraners are also known for their goofy expressions and human-like groans and sighs that let you know exactly how they're feeling. No matter what kind of mood you're in, a Weim is sure to make you laugh and brighten your day.

2. Weimaraners are gentle giants

Though they may look intimidating due to their size, in actuality, typical Weimaraners are loving and non-aggressive. They usually don't pay much mind to other dogs and are great with people. Weims love to have fun and be pet, and will usually only bother another dog or person unless they want to play!

3. Weimaraners are Velcro dogs

What is a Velcro dog? The term applies to dogs that stick to your sidelike Velcroand Weimaraners are just that. They are an extremely loyal breed that always want to be near you. They are a true companion, and with a Weim you will never be lonely. They will want to curl up next to you on the couch, sleep on the foot of your bed and rest under your feet while you work. The love that Weimaraners have for their owners is evident in how they always want to be with you. You can even walk most Weims off-leash and they will not stray too far. They truly are "man's best friend."

4. Weimaraners are smart and strong

Bred in 19th century Germany as hunting dogs for nobles and kings, Weimaraners are designed to be agile, intelligent and athletic. Weimaraners make great companions for active people, hunters and dog-show competitors (if trained, of course)!

5. Weimaraners need rescuing

Because of Weimaraners' attractiveness, many people buy or adopt them, only to realize later that they do not want the responsibility of a Weim. Because of this, there are many innocent Weimaraners in shelters and rescues across the country just waiting for their forever home. Rescues like The Weimaraner Rescue of the North and others do their best to collect Weims from pounds and put them in homes, but still, many go unadopted.

Now, I know what you are thinking: "These dogs sound great! I want one now!" Bear in mind, though, that they are a responsibility that requires your time and effort, so don't bite off more than you can chew. After all, you are your dog's entire world, and no one wants more homeless Weimaraners!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
