We are our souls nothing more and nothing less. We are not our status, our bodies/appearance, or our wealth.

Think about what you can actually control. You can control how you feel about things, whether you like something or not. You can't control any other/external thing though. You are what you can control.

And I know we all know this deep down, but it is a buried truth. An overwhelming truth. It is a truth that I think most realize is there but don't take any time to recognize. It's a good truth though, when people hear the word truth i think it conjures up thoughts of some hard harsh truth but this isn't that way. To realize that one is their soul, then one will realize that they are a force that influences and effects things around them and that gives one power and purpose.

To drive this point home I will reference to the book/movie "American Psycho" because it is about a man everyone admires and loves (all the women want to marry him) because he looks attractive to them, is rich, and talks in a polite society manner but if you put aside looks, money, and what he says he is a psychopathic murderer. His actions kill people in the cruelest of ways. Yet after he murders someone there is always someone else to come up to him and tell him how great he his and handsome. And they want to marry him but he only thinks about killing them due to perceived slights like for talking to him too long. Even the victims he murders are convinced he is a decent fellow up until he puts a knife into them. People are so clouded by what they see....sooo crazy.

This says something about society and today's society still and that is that some/most people place value on other's for the wrong reasons that being how they look and how wealthy they are. But all you really should base a person on is their actions, personality, mannerisms, and spirit, and other inside qualities and nothing else! Because society is so damn shallow all the time; to not notice what is real from what is put-on for appearance. All these realizations make me mad/frustrated with society beyond belief. Because society is what trains us all on how to act and think and it is training us wrong and it's causing people to be disillusioned. It is saying some people are better than others but nobody is better than any body else, we are equal right? Right? Yet some people are treated way better than others because of above shallow reasons. And other's are treated terribly and intolerably.

This realization makes all the sense in the world to me along with these other realizations:

We are all just scrappy people trying to be less scrappy

Don't be beautiful or pretty or superficial. Be something else, else includes. Being uplifting, unwavering, unapologetic, supportive , honest, deep, In touch emotionally; full of feeling, tough; unbreakable , flexible, comfortable, open, fun, true, caring, creative, humble. Trying to be all these things would be amazing.

I used to be prone to idealizing a lot of things, where now I think a heathier perspective to take would be to be a realist, even though through it all overall I am trying to be an optimist.

Let the rant out even if it's just on paper.

Remember nobody can be you.

You are something and somebody, you are never nothing or nobody

You are enough.

For some reason no matter what I try to write or blog about it always ends in advise or just possible inspirational comments. I guess that is the category I blog under most every time. Even though I plan to write a story or address some harder issues eventually

But till then. Inspiration out the wazoo

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
