Coffee is one of the most popular beverages in America. It fuels our tired mornings and gives us the focus we need for school or work. Whether you're on the go or staying for breakfast, your barista has you covered! But before you order another latte at your local coffee shop, here are 8 ways you can be polite to your hardworking baristas!

1. Understand that small coffee shops typically can only make one or two espresso drinks at a time and you are ticket number 20.

2. Please respond to our welcomes and goodbyes.

It’s respectful!

3. Don’t yell at us if your latte is not hot enough for you. Simply ask us if we can over-steam the milk next time.

We will try not to cringe.

4. Please do not get impatient if we decide to repeat your order back to you.

We don’t want to make mistakes.

5. Don’t order a French press in the middle of a rush.

6.Be polite and professional to younger looking baristas.

Especially young women (@ older men). We deserve the same kind of respect as our male coworkers.

7. Give us a break every once in a while.

When dozens of coffees are ordered at one time, human error may occur. Nine times out of ten, we can reverse a mistake if you are willing to cooperate.

8. Lastly, get to know us!

We love small talk with our regulars. It makes our job a lot more rewarding to hear from you!

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
