It’s here, folks. That time of year, the end of the semester, the span of weeks that all college students dread. The one thing standing between you and summer. And if you’re anything like me, you’re probably an anxious, overwhelmed college student who wants nothing but success on your final exams. However, it’s crucial you give your brain a rest, and take a break in between study sessions. Here are a few methods to de-stress your finals season.
1. Pet an animal.
If you’re lucky, your school may even bring dogs to campus for its students to hang out with, even for just a few minutes. Bask in that puppy love.
2. Take a bath.
That, or a long hot shower. Talk about therapeutic.
3. Watch an episode of your favorite show.
Now this one can be dangerous, for it can turn into a binge session. Limit yourself to one episode; your brain will thank you for the 45-minute break.
4. Do a face mask.
Face masks solve everything, right?
5. Exercise.
It’s important to exercise your body in between exercising your mind.
6. Call your mom.
Or your Dad, your Grandma, or your BFF. Chances are they’ll have some encouraging words for you, and if anything, they’ll keep you distracted for a short while. (Plus, I’m sure they’d love to hear from you.)
7. Take a nap.
While it’s important to get enough studying in, it’s just as important to sleep an ample amount to do your very best on your exams. Catching some Z’s will lead you to A’s.
8. Color.
I know this one seems a little childish, but I’m telling you, coloring is simply calming. It takes your mind off whatever’s stressing you out, and you get a pretty picture as an outcome.
9. Take a deep breath.
No matter how your finals end up going, you have to remember that it’s never the end of the world. Just do your best; that’s all you can do.
Just think, summer’s right around the corner. Put in the work now, and you’ll be glad you did later, when you’re lounging oceanside. You got this.
