Now is the time to pay our respects to the passing of the greatest holiday of the year, Halloween. Yes, I still miss it. Yes, I’m in denial that it’s actually November. No, I haven’t completely gotten over Halloween and it’s a problem. But have no fear! I tried making a list of ways to move forward in life without the excitement of Halloween. Now let’s just hope I can take my own advice.
1. Not acknowledging Christmas yet.
Christmas is Halloween's #1 competition when it comes to which one is favorite. Obviously, it’s always Halloween but I guess Christmas is pretty bomb too. The problem with Christmas is there is just too much going on and too much expectation surrounding it. There are so many presents and decorating isn’t spooky -- where is the fun in that? Trust me, I love getting presents like anyone else (Hint: Ulta or Sephora gift cards or fuzzy socks for me please) but Halloween supplies and candy really can’t be beaten for me. Let’s just not stress over Christmas just yet.
2. Watch "Nightmare Before Christmas" on repeat.
It’s the best of both worlds if you don’t want to feel like you're cheating on your love for Christmas. It's the perfect balance between spooky and festive! On that note, maybe pop in Krampus too while you’re at it.
3. Getting coupons and your bank account ready for Black Friday.
I know you’re supposed to look at gifts for Christmas, who again really needs to start in their lane, but let’s be honest, you can’t help but look for yourself too. Think of all the cool presents you could buy yourself! Treat yo self!!
4. Start training now because Thanksgiving is almost here!
I don’t mean going to the gym. No, I mean start seeing how much you can eat at a certain time to start preparing your stomach for all the food you will be eating.
5. Start planning next year's costume
If you want to look amazing in next year, you have to start gathering things now. You need a minimum of 5 costumes so get on that. We need one huge, intricate costume, a couple medium level difficulty ones, and then the easy costumes you can throw together really quickly. I would even start making a list of who you want to be in a group costume with. You have to know which friendships to keep strong this next year.
6. Stress about real things like school
Yeah, there is that education you’re after. That’s always fun to think about….not.
7. I don’t know what could really ease the pain at this point
Maybe drown your sorrows in chicken nuggets? Wear your costume while lounging around your house? Cry into a pillow? There is nothing to fill this empty void that sucks away all happiness in my soul.
Alright, that last part was a bit of the dramatics but this is serious! Halloween is over and I guess it’s time to move on. Until next year!
