As many shows are winding down, I am constantly looking for something new to see. So far, I’ve been able to satisfy my television needs by watching shows “On My Block,” “The Walking Dead,” (even though this show is now finished for the season), and I recently started the new hit Netflix show called “Money Heist.” However, even though I’ve been able to find new shows to watch, there is one show that cannot be replaced, and that show is “The Good Doctor.”

For those of you that have not seen this show, “The Good Doctor,” is about a young surgeon named Shaun Murphy, who has autism and Savant syndrome. Despite his disabilities, throughout the season Murphy demonstrates his outstanding abilities as a surgeon, constantly trying to win over the approval of other surgeons at the hospital he works at. Now, I know that a lot of you all are probably thinking, “I don’t feel like watching another doctor show, there are so many on television all of the time.” I definitely agree that I am tired of seeing so many medical shows on television, but “The Good Doctor” is very different than most medical shows. In my opinion, all of the other shows that have to do with medicine can be taken off the air, as long as “The Good Doctor” is still being shown. The show is amazing.

Also, Freddie Highmore’s performance as Murphy is one of the best performances I have ever seen, and it is clear that Highmore is underrated as an actor. Some of you all might remember him as a kid when he was in “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory,” while others might know him from the “Bates Motel.” Highmore has always proven himself to be a phenomenal actor in any role that he takes, but “The Good Doctor” is definitely his best role yet. This past year, Highmore was nominated for The Golden Globe for his role as Murphy, but he lost to Sterling K. Brown, who is also another excellent actor. Even though I think that Highmore should have won this year, I understand why Brown was the winner (he does a superb job in the show “This Is Us”).

Overall, I recommend that if you have not seen “The Good Doctor,” you should go ahead and binge watch the whole season because you won’t be disappointed. And when you see Highmore’s portrayal of someone that deals with autism every day, I’m sure that you will wonder why he did not win the Golden Globe this year too.

The show has been renewed for a second season, which is not a surprise, since after airing just three episodes, “The Good Doctor” became the most-watched show on U.S. television, surpassing “The Big Bang Theory.” The hit show has now become a staple just like “This Is Us,” and since most people would rather stream a show than watch it on television, this is a major accomplishment. I can’t wait to see what happens in the next season of “The Good Doctor,” but I’m mostly excited to see Freddie Highmore acting again.

“The Good Doctor” is shown on Mondays at 9 p.m. on “ABC.”

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
