Warning: You Might Buy a Pair of Vans After Reading This.

I've loved Vans since I was a little kid. I was a big fan of the slip-ons. I had just about every color. Vans are a timeless shoe. They'll never go out of style. If you're a skater, that's a plus because they are great for skateboarding. I'm personally not a skater but I wear them for comfort and style. I've noticed this year that Vans have been even more popular, well in Boston at least. It's likely that you've seen people wearing these three styles.

Vans Checkerboard Slip-On $50 - Vans.com

Vans Old Skool $55 - Vans.com

Vans Sk8-Hi $65 - Vans.com

These are all classic styles of Vans that are quite versatile and I can say that for pretty much any other style except if you get a colorful or patterned pair of course.

Now here's why Vans is a great shoe company.

Vans look great on everybody!

There's a style out there for everyone! For instance, if you don't like the weight of the Sk8-Hi, you can get slim classics which are a bit lighter on your feet. There's a pair of all weather vans as well which are great for snow and rain. (They didn't forget about us on the east coast). You can customize your very own pair on the vans website. People get very creative with them and they always come out great! Not to mention, they even have kids sizes! Although I'm just focusing on shoes, they have backpacks, apparel, and other accessories as well. Plus, you get a nice sticker with each pair. Who doesn't want a sticker?!

They give back to the community.

Vans has partnered with the Askate Foundation which provides skate therapy to autistic children and overall raises awareness of autism. If you buy a $2.99 reusable bag, a portion of it goes to fund the skate programs!

Vans Warped Tour!

Every year since 1995, the Warped Tour has been traveling all over the US every summer. It is known to be the biggest traveling music festival in the states, as well as the longest-running touring music festival in North America. I've never gone but I hope to go one summer. I've heard nothing but great things about it.

The employees are amazing!

Of the many times I've visited a Vans store, I've never had a bad experience! The employees are always there to help you find the right shoe. They are very nice people and represent the brand well. They truly know their stuff. Ask them about any of their products and they definitely know the answer.

You don't just have to go a Vans store to get authentic Vans.

There are other retailers that sell authentic Vans. Journeys, Zumiez, and Urban Outfitters are a few examples of other retailers who sell Vans. This is great because not everyone lives close to an official Vans store. I'm lucky to live about two miles from one but the next one isn't for another seven miles and it just gets further from there. I think there's only three Vans store locations in Massachusetts so it's great that we have other retailers that sell their products.

Anyways, I hope I convinced you to give Vans a chance if you don't own a pair already!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
