Wake Up America

Do our country a favor and wake up

Wake Up America
Great Hills Baptist Church

It's time for America, our great country to wake the hell up. Every morning on the news there is something new breaking the media that is tragic to our American citizens. It may not hurt or affect us individually but as a country it is tearing us down.

We have become so weak as a country because we can't defend our own or stand up for one another. It bothers me as a citizen of these United States that we want to create this wall around our country to block outsiders from coming in to make something of themselves because what's going on in their country is more terrifying than what is happening in ours. Instead of said wall we should build a giant mirror and take a good damn look at ourselves and see what we are doing to our own neighbors and see if we can take something from it. We have American citizen crime on crime every single day and no one wants to take the time and verbally say something about what is going on or how to actually solve this issue. We hide behind Facebook posts, tweets, blog posts and graphics that are posted all over social media but no one really has the guts to stand up and say what is actually happening.

We want to play it as a white on black or black on white crime but guess what America, there is more than one race in this country and there has been for a long time now, it's nothing new. We have people shooting and killing our law enforcement officers because of something the media took and ran with. We have innocent people dying because someone couldn't open up with their own insecurities. We have our own citizens falling because we are all selfish enough to blame the real issue of what is going on a something else other than what it really is. You know what? We have soldiers fighting for our country, our freedom, our damn right to be a citizen of this country for us to turn our backs on each other and on each others lives for petty reasons. We have people in other countries defending us when we can't even defend us. I wonder what the people who made America and what it stands for, started our system of government, made our amendments and created our freedom would think of us today.

We need to wake up and realize that not everyone is going to be happy, not everyone is going to follow the law, not everyone is going to understand and not everyone is going to be willing to work with each other to make a greater America. That is our problem right there, we can comprehend that. I am sorry but not one person who is elected president can fix our country. It is us citizens who really run this country and make it what it is. We need to come together and stop everything that is going on inside of our country. We need to act like we are land of the free and home of the brave and show all these other countries we're not fighting against each other we are with each other. This is America's turning point and at some point we might not be able to come back from all of this...

Love each other, we are all lucky that we are here today.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
