It is now officially spring, and while that definitely calls for spring cleaning, make sure to take time to refresh your makeup routine as well. It's a new season, and what worked for your skin during the cold winter may not work so well in the warm springtime.
1. Moisturizer
When winter made your skin dry and flakey, a heavy face cream was the ultimate fix. Now, it's just going to overload your skin and make you oily. Replace it with a gel-based moisturizer! They're designed to keep oils at bay - an essential during the warm seasons. Search for one with SPF while you're at it!
2. Foundation
Heavy-duty foundations look great in the winter, but against spring's sunny rays, it can look cakey and start to crease. Switching out your high-coverage matte foundation for a more lightweight, dewy finish one brings a healthy glow to your face - without even having to get tan.
3. Bronzer, Blush, and Highlight
While powder bronzers and blushes are great, cream or liquid products are infinitely better suited for Spring and Summer. They blend much better into the skin and look far more natural, giving you a bronzed and highlighted glow without looking heavy.
4. Mascara
It's self-explanatory ; spring = sun = beach = swimming. A waterproof mascara is a good investment to make to avoid raccoon face while you're near the water.
5. Setting spray
If you have an oily skin-type, then a mattifying setting spray will be your savior during this time. I find that when it's hot out, my makeup tends to slide more and get oily looking. Matte-finish sprays will lock in your products and prevent oils from appearing.
It can be tedious to replace your current products, but it's important to update your makeup routine to match a new season's climate!
