Now that summer is approaching, you probably have a lot more time on your hands. Instead of re-watching The Office or taking daily two-hour naps, how about you binge one of these underrated documentaries on Netflix?

1. "Evil Genius"

A bank robbery has just occurred in the town of Erie, Pennsylvania by a local pizza delivery man, Brian Wells. Wells claimed he was forced to do it, with a bomb strapped around his neck and five-pages of notes on how to commit the crime. If this story doesn't sound weird already, for Wells to get the bomb off his neck he embarks on a scavenger hunt to find the four keys which open the unique bomb.

This story follows the death of three men and the suspicious actions of a mentally-ill woman who claims her innocence and her genius ex-boyfriend who claims her guilt. You will not be disappointed as you watch this four-episode long documentary series unfold. You might, however, be highly disturbed by the feuding of the state and federal agencies which handled these cases.

2. "What the Health"

Beware that if you watch this movie, you may struggle to eat meat or animal products ever again. This documentary looks at the inhumane way animals are treated and fed by big factory farms. It also looks at what dangerous chemicals are in the food we are consuming. Watch as government agencies are in cahoots with big businesses to spread lies about what is in our food.

If this documentary is one you enjoy, Netflix has many others like it including Cowspiracy and Hungry for Change.

3. "The Champions"

After Michael Vick's dogfighting conviction, the fifty plus dogs that were once used for fighting are now being put in sanctuaries and given homes around America. This heart-wrenching documentary looks at the terrible prejudices towards pit bulls and dogfighting rings along with how dogs react after such trauma. You might shed some tears as these animals build up confidence in themselves and gain trust in humans for the first time.

4. "Chelsea Does..."

A four-episode mini-series by comedian Chelsea Handler, this documentary series looks at the many prejudices that come with drug use, race, and marriage/single life. Handler asks racists the hard questions and tries to fight stereotypes and other prejudices. You will be sure to laugh and cry during this series!

5. "Making a Murderer"

Ever a classic, Making a Murderer looks at the story of Steven Avery and Brendan Dassey, both of whom were accused of killing a young photographer. The only thing is... the evidence does not add up. There is no evidence implicating either two men.

The cops in the town could easily be described as corrupt. Avery was wrongfully accused of a crime years prior and was suing the county that wrongfully sent him to prison. Right after he filed the lawsuit, a woman died and Avery was blamed.

This 10-episode series is fascinating and disturbing. It looks at the corruption within our government, especially in the police department. The series shows how easily people can be swayed to believe or do certain things. After you watch this show, you will be left wondering if any crime is truly solved.

After watching these documentaries, I challenge you to think about life a little different. Do away with your stereotypes and prejudices for things you do not understand. Begin to be a little more skeptical about your government and the way your food is being made. And keep gaining knowledge through watching more documentaries!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
