Does Vacation Time Bring Out The Griswold In Your Family?
Remind Magazine

Now, before I get started, because I’m sure my family is reading this, let me just say, I love you guys. There it is. You have it in words. I’m sure we all love our families, but lets face it, it’s almost July, prime family vacation time, which means feelings that have been dormant since the last family holiday are about to resurface. Just remember though, the point of a family vacation is to bond over the complete and utter failures that unfold and then promise never to do it again only to pile into the car the next year under the false pretense that things will be different. If you still do this, congratulations and welcome to another year of family vacations as told by the Griswolds.

Does this picture look familiar? Of course it does. We all have one. It’s that one picture we pull out every year to convince ourselves that last year really was fun and we should totally do it again.

SNAP OUT OF IT! I just came back from a week long family vacation and let me tell you the Griswold moments outnumbered the sentimental. Have you ever been on the road and seen THAT family? You know the one i'm talking about. They drive a suburban with a trailer attached to it piled high with enough bikes and toys to entertain someone for months without getting bored. Yeah, now you know who I'm talking about. Those people are so tacky! Or at least thats what I think people are saying as they point and pass us on the road. It's hard to see out the window when your lap is being used for extra storage space. Never mind them though! Just smile and wave.

Maybe, your family isn't that bad, but I'm sure we can at least agree on one thing.

The singing has got to stop. Sure, it was funny that one time we did it, but we thought you guys understood. It was just one time! Now, you complain about not being able to talk to us because we have our headphones in. Well, maybe you should have thought about that last year before you ruined every song for us that came before the 80s. After a car ride like that it takes days to calm down. A couple beers cant hurt either though.

On the bright side once you get there you have your own room to hide out in. Wow, that sounded nice, but we all know that's not true. Personal space doesn't exist on a family vacation.

(mashable.com)

In fact that is why group activities were invented; to prevent personal space. You cannot imagine how many activities can be fit into one day. I mean everyone has something they want to do and since no one is allowed to have one second to themselves we have to move fast and do them all together!

(giftyoutube.com)

Thats why when you finally get home you run to your room like this.

(dailydot.com)

We all love spending time with our families... in moderation. Vacation is a scary time though. It's not until we take a seven hour road trip followed by a week of intense family bonding that we see the Griswolds start to emerge. When a movie becomes your reality you know it's time to pack up the Family Truckster and head home.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
