True/False is an annual documentary film festival in Columbia, Missouri. Entering their 13th year, True/False provides moviegoers with the opportunity to see a plethora enthralling non-fiction films on the big screen for an entire weekend at various locations in downtown Columbia from March 3rd through the 6th.
The theme this year is "Off the Trail," which means that festival attendees can expect movies about adventurous or otherwise daring subjects. Films like "Behemoth," "Camera Person," and "Sherpa" take viewers across the globe, telling wildly captivating stories along the way.
This year’s most anticipated flicks include, "Kate Plays Christine," which follows a young actress researching an intense role, "Weiner," profiling controversial former New York politician Anthony Weiner, "Norman Lear: Just Another Version of You," a fascinating look at life of sitcom actor Norman Lear, and the world premiere of "The Pearl," which explores gender from the viewpoint of four middle-aged trans women.
If you aren't a fan of movies (or specifically documentaries), the fest also includes other activities such as parties, short films, art exhibitions, a 5K run, a parade and, last but not least, music. Expect to hear performances by Lee Fields and the Expressions, Seratones, and "festival favorites" The Creek Rocks.
New to the festival this year is something called Lost Letters, which truefalse.org describes as, "An hour-long performance to be experienced in group of up to 10 people. You will be challenged to work your way through a narrative... Completing the experience will rely on creative thinking and teamwork."
This is truly something you do not want to miss out on!
Tickets for all events are on sale now at truefalse.org, or you can purchase your tickets in person at the True/False Box Office (1020 E. Broadway) this Thursday, March 4, starting at 9 a.m.
