Most people dream about traveling the world, maybe even a quick spontaneous trip to a major continent such as Europe or South America, but how many actually take the time to plan their dream vacation. If theres one thing I've learned about traveling, is that you'll never be the same after you experience a different culture.
Recently this past spring I had traveled to Paris for a week to visit both the city and my cousin. Little did I know I was going to not only find my future home but fall in love with the city in less than 24 hours. Till this day I dream about the paintings in the Louvre, the amazing hot chocolate from Angelina, and of course the magnificent Eiffel Tower. I was not only able to tour the city but I experienced their culture, tried their foods, spoke their language, and live the typical French lifestyle. Now that five months have passed, I am already planning my next trip back. Even though I saw all of Paris in 10 days, I will never be able to get enough from that city.
Originally I am from Morocco, so within that, I am able to be engulfed in a different culture most don't experience which will always be something that I am most grateful for in life. Being able to consistently practice things outside of the norm, eat foods most wouldn't, and have the privilege of saying I am trilingual is the best part of my life. My point here is to encourage people to travel and see the world. Although it can be scary at times with much of what's going on in the news, visiting different countries is a life changing experience is there is nothing like it. You will never be the same after being a part of a whole new society.
I really hope this encourages you to not just try new things but to experience a new life. To see the world, sit in a service in a major cathedral, eat at the first cafe you see on the street, or roam the city at 3 a.m. One of the greatest honors in life is to be able to be a part of new societies and do it with an open mind. You have nothing to lose but the world to see.
