12 travel Tips when preparing to go on vacation This Season

Everybody loves going on vacation, but what about the packing? What if you forget something? What should you pack for this particular trip? Everybody asks these questions, because you do not want to get to your awesome vacation and not have something.

1. Plan ahead

As someone who waits until the very last minute to pack I advise you not to do this. If you wait until the last minute you are almost certain to forget at least one thing. Plus how stressful is it to pack the day you are leaving? After all, it is a vacation and you are supposed to be stress-free.

2. Make a list

Make a list ahead of time. Start making a list of what you want to pack a couple months in advance to make sure you are not forgetting anything. If you do this you will think of things before your trip that you need to pack.

3. Check the weather

About a week before the trip, make sure to check the weather. Obviously, you will probably know about what the temperature is going to be depending on the time of year and location you are going to, but check and see if it is going to be storming. Pack that extra rain jacket if so.

4. Little bottles

Do not bring your whole bottle of shampoo or body wash. Go to the dollar tree and pick up some cheap little bottles and fill them up with your toiletry items. This saves a lot of room in your suitcase and makes more room for clothes.

5. Plan where to eat

I know this is a big one for my family when we go on vacation. A lot of times once when getting on vacation we are standing around for hours trying to figure out where we want to eat. Research the location and decide where you want to eat in advance. This will save time and you will likely be able to choose something everyone will like.

6. Pack essentials on your carry-on

If there is anything you can not live without pack it on your carry-on. What if you luggage gets lost in the airport? Always pack things like chargers and such in your carry-on just in case. It is also smart to pack an extra pair of clothes, because it may take them a day or two to find the luggage.

7. Pack extra underwear

Always pack extra underwear in case of emergencies, which probably are not likely. But what if you go swimming or somehow get wet you do not want to put the same dirty underwear back on? They are small and do not take up much room, so packing extra does not hurt.

8. Notify your bank

Nothing is worse than going on vacation and your card gets put on hold because they think someone has stolen it. Always let them know so this is not a problem especially if you are leaving the country.

9. Tell somebody at home your plans

Tell your neighbor or someone you are leaving town. Just in case something were to happen to your house, maybe a fire or someone breaking in that way there is someone to take care of the situation.

10. Plan your outfits

If you are going on a long vacation it is not a bad idea to plan what you are going to wear everyday in advance; this will save room and time.

11. Overpack

Okay so a lot of people say never overpack, but I am a fan of overpacking. You never know what you might need or want while you are on vacation. You do not want to get there and wish you had something that you forgot to pack.

12. Have fun

After all you are on vacation and you are suppose to be having fun. Spend this time being stress free and enjoy your vacay!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
