A letter from your travel coordinator:
I feel like I can really relate to everything that Jorah Mormont was feeling. The idea of being at home and still wishing for another home is deep, and I have feelings of being alone at times in my own home. Big space, but so empty, or filled with scary things that you think are going to jump out at you. This place is a nightmare, but also, we can still call it home because we have an attachment to it. It wasn’t ourselves that made us attached. It was the bears of our island that put us in the prison cells of our home.
Looking for a vacation that will give you the thrill of a lifetime?
Well Bear Island has something better: Thrills and the Chills.
Located on “the southernmost island of the Norwegian Svalbard archipelago. The island is located in the western part of the Barents Sea, approximately halfway between Spitsbergen and the North Cape" (Wikepedia). You can enjoy being completely isolated and alone while the nearest city is located 100,344,545 miles across the frozen Arctic ocean in Norway.
Not sure what to pack?
Don’t worry, we have everything covered. There are hundreds of blankets kept inside House Mormont where the island's old rules used to live. Since the natives here have developed calluses on their entire bodies from the relentless cold, we do suggest bringing your own coat as well as everyone else that you know’s coat. Also mittens are suggested to prevent frost attack.
What is Frost Attack you might ask?
Frost Attack is when your entire hand goes frozen to a point of “no return” and your fingers fall off. It is the next level up from frostbite.
What sort of activities do you offer?
Only the best! You can spend your vacation mining or fishing by the dangerous waters. We are not liable for death or injuries.
What is the history of the island?
“Bear Island has long been disputed by the north and the Iron Islands. Thousands of years ago, Bear Island was ruled by House Woodfoot prior to its conquest by the ironborn. The ironmen of antiquity controlled the Sunset Sea from Bear Island and the Frozen Shore as far south as the Arbor.
The island was used as a reaving base by Ravos Hoare, the son of Harrag Hoare, King of the Iron Islands. Theon Stark, a King in the North, drove the ironborn from Bear Island during his reign, slaying Ravos himself (Wikipedia)."We hope you visit soon and enjoy your stay.
