March Madness, except for music.

Suddenly, it is nearing the end of March. I truly cannot believe how quickly March flew by. However, the end of the month means a list of my top ten songs I listened to during the past 31 days!

10. "Another Sad Love Song" by Khalid

This appears on Khalid's 2017 album "American Teen," which his hit "Young, Dumb, and Broke" was the lead single off of. However, "Another Sad Love Song" is definitely my favorite. This song is perfect for any setting--singing along to in the car, middle-of-the-night listening, or on the way to work or class.

9. "Pyramids of Salt" by the Wonder Years

The Wonder Years' title track of their upcoming album "Sister Cities" appeared on my February list, and their next single "Pyramids of Salt" is appearing on this month's list. I am highly anticipating this album. I think it is going to be their best yet, and that's hard to do considering their whole discography is great. "Pyramids of Salt" is just another example of how this upcoming album will exceed anything the band has produced previously.

8. "Pretty Shining People" by George Ezra

George Ezra has released yet another single off of his new album, "Staying at Tamara's" set to release on March 23. I have loved every song Ezra has released so far for his album, and can not wait to hear the rest of it. Specifically, "Pretty Shining People" is an upbeat song, perfect for listening during the upcoming spring and summer months.

7. "Get Lonely With Me" by George Ezra

Yet another George Ezra song, but with this song actually being released in 2014! I discovered this song while listening to George Ezra radio on Spotify. This song appeared on Ezra's "Cassy O'" EP, along with four other songs, including a live version of his hit, "Budapest." Highly recommend giving this song a listen.

6. "Pink Lemonade" by James Bay

Similar to the Wonder Years, James Bay also appeared on my list of February songs. His second single off of his upcoming album "Electric Light," set to release May 18, "Pink Lemonade" first debuted on Saturday Night Live on March 10. This song differs from his first single "Wild Love," in the sense that it is "heavier" and includes guitar, whereas the first single was a lot of synthesizers. So far I have loved both singles and can't wait to hear more!

5. "Drugs and Candy (Live)" by All Time Low

My favorite band All Time Low recently released a live version of their song "Drugs and Candy" off of their 2017 album "Last Young Renegade." To be honest, I was not a huge fan of this song. However, I have grown to love it, especially after hearing it live; and now that they have released a live version of it on Spotify, I have found myself listening to it quite often. I rarely ever listen to the studio version. All Time Low puts on a hell of a live show, and if you need proof of that, give this a listen.

4. "City Boy" by Calpurnia

So I'm not sure if you've heard but...Finn Wolfhard...ya know, the kid who plays Mike Wheeler on "Stranger Things," he's got a band...and they're actually not bad. They recently released their first song, "City Boy" and was pleasantly surprised to hear that they have talent. I can't wait to see what else the band has to offer.

3. "Once in a Lifetime" by One Direction

Obviously, this song is almost four years old, and even that's hard to believe. So much has happened in the One Direction world since "Four's" release. Zayn left, "Made in the A.M." was released, and now they have been on hiatus since 2016, with all of the boys pursuing solo careers. Of course, I always like to go back and reflect on the days when I did not appreciate when One Direction was fully formed, releasing new music, and touring. "Four" is probably my favorite 1D album, and I recently discovered the gem of "Once in a Lifetime" on the album. I immediately fell in love, and it made me realize how much I truly miss them.

2. "Count on Me" by Bruno Mars

Again, this is another old song, with "Count on Me" appearing on Bruno Mars' 2010 album "Doo-Wops & Hooligans." Recently, the song got stuck in my head, so I decided to listen to it, and I rediscovered what a bop it is. It's a song that is guaranteed to boost your mood with it's cute lyrics and perky melody. This is a Bruno Mars' song that gets forgotten, and I believe it deserves more recognition! It's timeless and better than "Just the Way You Are," which seems to be the hit off of this album.

1. "Alien" by Donnarumma

Honestly don't remember how I discovered this song, but it's a good one. I wouldn't say it's my technical "number one" song I want you to listen to, but it just ended up that way. However, it's a good song by a band I never heard of, and I love discovering new music. And that's the whole point of these monthly lists anyway, right? So get listening!

Overall, I'm excited about all of the upcoming releases and new albums from some of my favorite artists. New music is good for the soul.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
