I have been known to have a very odd taste in music. There isn't one genre I am stuck to, and there isn't one that I absolutely can't listen to.

Bands I listen to you may never have heard. Most you won't hear on the radio even though they deserve it.

With a variety of music I hope you find one of these artists admirable.

1. American Pinup

American Pinup is for sure one of the most underrated bands I know. Not only their recordings, but their live performances are wonderful. Their Alternative music with Lauren's unique voice is exactly what you need to hear today. I could write a whole article just on this band and it's band members. Maybe that will be a different article.

2. Icon For Hire

Icon For Hire has been through hell and back, but made it through with a roar. Ariel and Shawn have some of the biggest hearts I have seen. The connection with fans is more about popularity of their music. Ariel's YouTube channel "the REL Show" gives advice on self-care and self-help. Their lyrics connect to the fans unlike any others I know.

3. New Years Day

If Ash's hair doesn't intrigue, I'm not sure what will. New Years Day along with most bands I listen to have kind souls and big hearts. This is the opposite of what people think based on the style of music (that's dumb by the way...). However, if you look into behind the scenes work, you'll find a lot these bands do for raising awareness and donations.

4. Caro Emerald

Now if this isn't a drastic change from the last band... I don't know what is. My friend introduced me to Caro Emerald on a roadtrip. Ever since, I have played her on repeat. From Jazz to Pop I have yet to find a song I dislike of Caro's.

5. Zz Ward

Zz Ward is by far one of my favorite artists right now. You can find her voice on "Pretty Little Liars," a new Nascar commercial, obviously Youtube, along with many other platforms. Recently, I saw Zz live. She was even better live than in recordings.

6. Stitched Up Heart

Stitched Up Heart has helped me through so much. The connection they have with fans and how much they care about fans is amazing. This band definitely makes you feel that you belong somewhere.

7. Ally Hills

I started following Ally Hills on Youtube a few years ago. Originally, I was only following her comedic videos. Now, I am stuck on her music. Some of my favorite videos of Ally's are songs she writes through Q&A's and other video topics. Check out her channel it's worth it!

8. Wild Child

You know when you are on Youtube, and you have the "suggestions for you" section? Well, that's how I find a lot of my music. "Wild Child" was one of my suggestions and I couldn't be happier. Their Indie sound is calming and is perfect while I write or just hang around the house.

9. The Avett Brothers

You'll notice the change in music type from the others here. I usually don't listen to Folk Rock, but for some reason these guys have me hooked. The Avett Brothers are amazing live as well.

10. Young Lungs

I found "Young Lungs" as an opening act for a concert in their hometown of Pittsburgh, Pa. "Young Lungs" is an excellent band live, and quite enjoyable to stream as well. Their cover of "Harder To Breathe" is one of my favorites live. If you are ever in Pittsburgh, I highly suggest trying to see them perform.

11. Renee Phoenix

Renee Phoenix is rising in Alternative Rock. With her Joan Jett like vocals, Renee is more than deserving of her audience. You can also find Renee's vocals in her previous band "Fit For Rivals."

Each of these artists are amazing in their own ways. Even if you don't particularly love one of them share them with someone that might. These artists are more than deserving of that.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
