A Christmas Story,Home Alone, and The Polar Express are all classic Christmas movies, and they're all great, but are you ever in the mood to watch a Christmas movie that isn't so...well... Christmasy? Have no fear, I've got my personal list of unconventional Christmas films for you to watch this week:
1. Die Hard
This is probably the best movie that you'll forget takes place on Christmas. Nothing puts you in the spirit like seeing Bruce Willis write "Ho Ho Ho" on a terrorist in a Santa hat.
2. Edward Scissorhands
People always classify Edward Scissorhands as a Halloween movie because of its creepy, Tim Burton nature, but the beautiful scene of Edward holding Kim in the snow after the Christmas party fiasco is definitely going to warm your heart.
3. Rent
Beginning and ending on Christmas eve over the course of one year, the classic movie-musical's La Vie Boheme is a Friendmas anthem. Friends will always have you on Christmas even if you have nowhere else to go, or nowhere else you'd rather be.
4. When Harry Met Sally
This is one of my favorite romantic movies of all time! Falling in love over the course of a billion years? Check. 90's wardrobe? Check. Subtle holiday themes? Check. It's a classic.
5. Just Friends
Ryan Reynolds is truly hysterical (don't let Green Lantern fool you), and watching him avoid a crazed Anna Ferris while ruining a Christmas pageant in his hometown is just cringeworthy enough to make this an unconventional Christmas dream.
So curl up with your eggnog and have a marathon. Go on, you deserve it.
