Travel & Leisure

It's no secret that traveling is one of my favorite things to do when I get the chance. Being able to see new sights and go to places I've never seen before gives me the chance to become more open-minded to other cultures. Not to mention I get to try some amazing food.

Traveling to different cities and seeing new people helps the creative process for my writing because I can use my experience to share with others. If you ever get the chance to see a new city, state, or country, go. Allow your mind to see what else the world has to offer.

Therefore, with my love for traveling, I decided to make a list of my top five favorite places I've traveled to outside the U.S. Book that trip in the future to one of these places if you get the opportunity. Also, these are strictly my own opinions and I'm certainly no travel connoisseur, so it's only suggestions!!

5. Killarney, Ireland

Experience an abundance of greenery when stepping into Ireland. When I went abroad and saw that this country was the first destination on the list, I didn't know what to expect. However, the quaint area not to mention the wonderful ice cream parlor known as Murphy's (a try if you get the chance), it's safe to say that the coziness of Killarney and a nice book in hand will keep this girl completely satisfied.

4. Sintra, Portugal

Colorful buildings and small businesses throughout this town will most likely place a smile on your face. The memories of walking with friends through the maze of alleyways made the adventure all the more exciting. It's a wonder to witness cars go through small pathways, stay alert for vehicles that may only be a few feet behind you!

3. Montego Bay, Jamaica

Now, I may be biased with this one seeing as how I have family from here and who are still currently living here. The food (hopefully you like a variety of spices and also sweets) is to die for, the sight and sound of a body of water nearby are ever so calming, and the people of this beautiful island makes me feel at home each time I come back. Some people seem to think they know a lot about Jamaica from say, a famous singer or even through shows, but there's far more beauty to this island that makes it a second home to me than just the basic info. that people think they know; it holds its own power of love and strength.

2. Edinburgh, Scotland

Scotland, the wonderful and intricately fascinating Scotland. From the historic castle sitting atop a hill to the cobblestone paths leading you in every direction as though you've stepped out from history itself, Edinburgh is definitely a site to see. It's no wonder I was able to find my all-time favorite crossbody purse in this city where shopping seemed to be a must for everyone.

1. Valencia, Spain

If there was ever a place that I may have run off to and am most certainly never coming back, Spain is where you'll find me. Where does one even begin to describe the authentic Spanish cuisine, the historic architecture along with a few modern buildings, and the welcoming people? Valencia has its own form of dream-like beauty and a warmth to it that may make the leave even more dreadful.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
