As summer approaches, that brings forth the common effort everyone should partake in...updating your beauty routine. With every changing season there are so many products that are fitting with the current season, and the one that is vastly creeping up on us is good ole' sweet summertime. I don't know about you but summer happens to be one of my favorite seasons of the year. With the changing temperature it's only right to update your beauty routine with proper products to keep you looking and feeling confident, let's take a look at some of the major essential summer beauty products you should have.

1. Sunscreen

This shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone considering how vital it is to keep your skin protected from the sun’s harmful rays. Going on vacation to the beach, a trip to a water park, or even laying out by the pool? Make sure that you always, always slather some of this on your skin 30 minutes before partaking in any of these activities. Sunscreen prices can range from pretty cheap to quite pricey, but whichever one you choose really depends on how much you’re willing to spend.

2. Lightweight moisturizers and lotions

Hydration is key during these summer months—for your body and for your skin. It’s important to drink plenty of H20 to keep your skin feeling refreshed as well as it is important to include a lightweight moisturizer into your skincare routine. My personal favorite lotions and moisturizers stream from brands such as Nivea, Neutrogena, and St. Ives in terms of great inexpensive drugstore bands. Now, if you're looking to splurge on such products, Clinique would be my recommendation for a good quality moisturizer lotion.

3. Lip Balm with SPF

Onto the next staple product for this summer, lip balm. Who would think it’d be important to maintain the upkeep of your peckers? Well if you didn’t know, excessive heat and excessive exposure from the sun can cause irritation on your lips thus making them chapped. Make a conscious effort to carry a small tube around with you and apply onto your lips along with a good moisturizing chap stick. As a personal recommendation, Sun Bum has a collection of scented lip balms with spf in them.

4. Protective Hair Masks

Heat damage can affect a numerous amount of things, your hair being of them. Sweat and scorching temperatures are bound to leave your scalp feeling extremely dirty and greasy—yuck! Try incorporating a protective hair mask versus the typical everyday shampoo, as shampooing your hair everyday in the summer can be harmful to your hair’s texture. The mask will help retain moisture, shine, and overall elasticity in your hair.

5. Body Scrubs

Humid summer days are prone to leaving your skin feeling sweaty and what better way to rid yourself of the nasty gunk seeped into your pores than with a nice body scrub? Along with this, dry dull, flaky skin can be a pain, take it from me someone who struggles with this, especially during these warmer months. Moisturizing is one thing but it’s also important to keep skin rejuvenated and I can promise you that adding a body scrub to your beauty routine will leave your skin feeling just that!

So there you have it, trust me there are plenty more products that could've made this list. Some that are equally important as the products listed, but I feel like these five are most common among many. With vacation right around the corner, I plan on updating my beauty routine very very soon. What about you?

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
