Look guys, if you need someone to go to the next Pixar or Disney movie with you I'm your girl. I had a boy take me on a first date to the Lorax in high school and I ate that up. Even surrounded by children around the ages of 3-10! The wonder and enchantment in children's movies are literally eye opening. These movies teach you so many life lessons.
Watching them as an adult feels like an acorn has fallen onto your head and has opened up a new section of your brain and you're just like WHOAH! That was so deep! Or maybe it's just me. Let me give you a little rundown on some of the BEST children's movies I have seen thus far and go ahead and watch those through any streaming device you may own. You may learn something.
1. NUMBER ONE: 'The Lorax'
The first time a watched this I had chills the whole time. I was probably 16, maybe 17 and the happiness and excitement about the need for nature was overwhelming. It's a cute movie about a silly man with big dreams of greed who didn't listen to basically the God of the forest and to not spoil it, but it was bad. This movie takes the curiosity of children and puts it into action.
With the enthusiasm of the Lorax to preserve our natural resources, we can teach children early how important it is to conserve and listen to others. By showing our children what the consequences could be by watching a movie they enjoy can spark a conversation about the need to conserve and that can make all the difference. Now, go plant a tree or something!
2. SECOND but still close to first: 'MOANA'
Oh MY Gosh, if you have not watched this turn yourself around, go back to your couch and open up Netflix and BANG! You will be inspired. This enthused tale about the journey of a girl out to save the people of her island is inspiring. Moana teaches children and well, me, you can do anything you set your mind to! The possibilities are endless!
She goes against all the odds even battling a volcano God and ends up the hero of her island! Sometimes with a little help you just have to remember who you are and you can't let someone turn you into something you're not. Also, remember you are the pilot of your own life and your adventure is out there!
3. 'Lilo & Stitch'
Ahhh, isn't Stitch the Cutest?! One of the funniest children's movies I have seen thus far and loaded with beautiful music and great lessons. Some include the meaning of Ohana. Ohana means family and family never gets left behind. So sweet I'm tearing up at the thought of it. But don't forget when she makes voodoo dolls of her dancing class peers with forks and puts them in pickle juice.
That will teach them. But it doesn't. You can't make anyone be your friend but you can find a friend in them. With a little support and strength of friends and family, you can beat anyone trying to steal your alien! Or did we decide it was a dog? Either way, you guys got this!
4. Cinder-FREAKIN-Rella
Yes, yes, yes. This girl has got it going on. You know the story.
Some rude step mom and shitty step sisters always putting her down but she goes to that ball, has the Prince fall in love with her and BANG! Princess of the land. Somehow, even with the sudden death of her father, the constant negativity, mental and physical punishment from her sisters and step monster she prevails, with a little help from her fairy god mother and still finds room in her heart to forgive them.
Moral of the story is be nice to others because they might be the next Princess of all the land or your future boss so be polite to EVERYONE and maybe the forest animals will help you get dressed every morning!
5. 'Maleficent'
Vengence isn't always what you think it is. In this tall tale, a fairy turned evil puts a spell on the Queen & Kings child but soon realizes the sweet princess is everything she could have wanted in a friend she never had and only she can help restore the peace throughout the kingdom.
Through a pure heart and optimism, the princess shows Maleficent what it feels like to be loved which come on, love always prevails. Don't let a warm heart turned cold guide you. Hate only turns into destruction.
I'm basically telling you that all these movies and MORE are both actioned packed, morally enticing, and a heartwarming show everyone will love! Grab some popcorn and sit down and get comfortable! You're in for a treat!
