10 Things You MUST Buy On Black Friday

Black Friday is quickly approaching. For me, Black Friday is always my go-to for Christmas presents. Christmas sales are great, but Black Friday deals are the best of the year. For those of you lucky enough to not be working on Black Friday, you might be wondering what kinds of deals will be hitting stores this year. Here are the sales you should definitely check out for Black Friday 2018.

1. Televisions

Televisions are usually one of the most popular and discounted finds on Black Friday. Target is my go-to store, but you can also try Best Buy. Have a terrible TV? Hold out until the end of the month and get yourself a brand new, super cheap, fancy television.

2. Movies

Movies deserve their own category because of Target. Every year I spend probably 20 minutes looking at Target's cardboard display of discounted movies. No matter how poor I am, I always end up buying one or two. Movies, especially new releases, can be found at great prices at Target and Best Buy.

3. Beauty products

Sephora and Ulta will both have some pretty great deals on popular beauty items. These deals will usually be for the more expensive products or packages of multiple items, so still expect to spend a fair amount.

4. Smartphones

I've never understood the obsession with sitting outside for 12 hours to get a new phone or whatever it is people actually do, but I guess getting a new phone is a popular thing to do on Black Friday. Apple deals are usually not that great because their deals are more along the lines of, "Spend a certain amount and you'll get a sticker." They don't typically have the deals where their merchandise is discounted. However, if you're looking to upgrade or get a new phone, Black Friday might be the way to save a couple extra bucks.

5. Gaming Systems

Need a PlayStation? Xbox? Nintendo Switch? Well, Black Friday will be your day for that. Gaming systems (as well as some games) will be on major sale. I remember a couple years ago, my mom bought the PlayStation 4 with all the Uncharted games as a family Christmas present. My goodness, it was a steal.

6. Laptops

Electronics are usually a must for people to at least consider on Black Friday, even if they have no intention of buying anything. Laptop accessories and printers will often be on sale, too.

7. Tablets & E-Readers

I've seen a lot of people buy or plan to buy Nooks (e-readers) on Black Friday. Barnes & Noble typically has a lot of great deals for Black Friday and Cyber Monday.

8. Household Appliances

You always see those crazy people walking out of the doors with a shopping cart filled with vacuums, toasters, crock pots, coffee makers and every other household appliance you could think of. You will have to get to the store early, though, because the limited stock of these appliances typically doesn't last long.

9. Clothing

It's no surprise that small retail stores also have some pretty good deals, they just aren't always on everyone's radar. If your wardrobe needs a bit of a refresher, there's a good chance you can walk into just about any clothing store to find a good deal.

10. Exclusives

Black Friday is a time when many shop owners pull out some hidden treasure from the back to sell. Some of these things include signed books and posters, antiques, limited editions and updated versions of older products. No matter where you are shopping, you may be able to spot one of these fun little finds.

Regardless of what you're buying or where you seek your Black Friday deals, always remember that some people are crazy on this holiday. Avoid these people because they will, I kid you not, attack you if you have something they want. Be safe, shopaholics.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
