Today's Fear, Tomorrow's Reality: A Poem
By Madyson Bryan

The sink is filling quickly even though the faucet is still dry

The air is getting cooler thought the sun continues to swell

And the bodies break and tear even though the man is running and walking

I used to know him quite well

A muffled cry is heard over the headline of the paper

A scream comes into focus from the picture above

"Children are dying, people are lying, a couple has just fallen in love"

Is this home, the place that i'm in? If so I don't think it's me that it's for

Is it made to benefit evil, the cheats, the conceited?

-I don't want to be here anymore

Freedom is prison when everyone is not invited

Feminism without intersection is hate

Democracy without people is quite secluded -what about "united" ?

Walk straight, walk straight, walk straight

Love with walls is torture

Being within confinement is a treatrous feat

Living with no means is an uphill battle

"Work harder- you're not enough" -"We are trying"

..repeat

Foundations already uneven foster bigger cracks

The pavement is still caving in

My throat is closing and the cough is scorching

Will you be there for me thick and thin?

The bubble is almost about to pop

Maybe it already did

I was too busy working and trying and buying

To really see what's been outside my window since i was a kid

I was bound by control

But also saved by my family and friends and my love

But I was a lucky one

I can't forget it all.

I have to use my voice

I am still here

I can't be at peace when hate drives harder than love

And families aren't together

And people are locked up

And justice isn't justice

And the temperature is rising

And populations are dying

And people are being forced to obey the same law that shoots at them

And terrible history repeats itself and people turn a blind eye

And ignore

Some are pretending like this isn't a crisis

Some are pretending that all is well

Some claim to help their neighbors and then leave extra fruit out to rot

Return to empathy.

To Love.

To Kindness.

To listening.

To action.

To organizing.

Because today's fear could be tomorrow's reality

And yesterday's reality can find its way to you today

We don't have much time left

To try to get it right

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
