It took me forever to come to terms with not going to college.
Unfortunately, it took me three years of going to college to figure that out. I was never too thrilled about continuing school, but it is what I thought was the "norm" so I continued even though I wasn't fully into it. Finally, four years after graduating high school, I am content with not going to college. I am no longer ashamed of not continuing my education. I have a full-time job that I love and going to college isn't necessary.
Some people are just not meant to go to college.
If you are one of those people, I admire you. It is really hard to go against what is "expected" after graduating high school - to do what you think is the best for you, regardless of what anyone thinks. It's admirable. I have learned that you can have a successful future without a college degree. If you want to have a job that doesn't require a degree, it's perfectly fine to go without a college education.
It is important to have a steady job and to make sure you can make a living for yourself. There are really great jobs you can get with and without a degree, there should be no shaming of either choice you make. We live in a world where not doing what everyone else is doing is frowned upon. Continuing or not continuing your education is a really hard choice, but doing what is best for you is necessary.
My best advice would be that since college is extremely stressful, expensive, and time-consuming. If you are not 100% into it, you shouldn't go; even if that means taking a gap year or two to figure out what you want. You should still make a living for yourself, whether that means finding a side job or a career that doesn't require a degree.
But, if you aren't fully into continuing your education, there is no shame if you do it the right way!
