A little girl named Parker fought one of the toughest battles I have seen in a while. DIPG is a terminal brain cancer that is one tough cookie to go against. With her family and friends always by her side, a blog to keep others updated, the world of dance always having her back, and the sweet color purple with her stuffed bear on her arm every moment; Parker showed the world just what she was capable of. She also influenced many that life is something to love no matter what and always stay strong in it.This one is for Parker. May you be up there dancing your heart out with the biggest smile on your face, which you never failed to show to the world.

Bad things happen to good people

And you don’t always know why.

But soon it’ll hit you

When you smile, laugh, and cry.

There are some that seem to be strong enough

And can handle these tough battles.

They seem to show the rest of us

To make it through, when frazzled.

Family and friends loved her beginning to end

Standing at her side through everything, thick and thin.

Flight to flight and treatment to treatment

Every time I checked her updates, I couldn’t help but grin.

No matter what she was fighting

No matter what the doctors said,

She would prove them wrong,

And show them she would win.

I’ll never forget her battle, her wit, her smile, her grit.

I’ll never see the color purple or think of dance quite the same.

Not without thinking of her strength glowing from her flame.

Parker showed me something

I never did expect

She showed me that there’s more to life

And showed me how to live.

To have a smile on my face

And my favorite stuffed buddy by my side

I can count on my family

And have faith in God,

To carry me through everything

And show others I am quite the awe.

This one is for you

Parker Monhollon.

This one’s for your battle.

I hope others feel the same as me

I hope others feel inspired.

You took on a battle,

Not everyone can handle

And even though it’s hard and painful

You never quit and always smiled.

I didn’t know you personally,

Which is a major regret of mine

Because if I could’ve seen you just once

I would want to give you all the love I have in this life.

I know you will watch your family,

And look out for them from up up above.

For those who are unfamiliar

I leave with these words.

That remind me of Parker’s fire

And are sung by all the birds.

Parker loved purple.

Parker loved to dance.

Parker loved life.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
