This next year is going to be interesting for the both of us. There are going to be so many moments when I wish I could run into your room and show you this funny video I found so we could laugh about it for hours, and there are going to be times that I wish you were here to lay in my bed and hold me while I cry over that stupid boy. It's going to be a difficult new adventure for the both of us, but please never forget these things.

No matter how far away we are from each other, you will always come first. If you call me, I will answer. If you text me, I will reply. If you come visit me, we will do whatever you want. I will be here for you if you need a laugh, or if you need someone to cry to, just like I always have been.

With all of that being said, high school is going to be extremely different without me there. I won't be able to meet you in the bathrooms if you need feminine supplies, or sit in the cafeteria with you at lunch. But I'm also not going to be there to push you. Whatever you do, don't get behind. Work hard, everyday. Even when it seems like the work you are doing is pointless, work hard on it because it will give you a good mindset when you go to college.

Whatever you do, don't let a boy determine how much fun you have this year. You are only going to get to do high school once, and believe me it is going to go so fast. I don't care how much you love him, don't revolve your life around him. Go out with your girlfriends, be crazy and make as many memories as you possibly can.

As for living at home goes, don't shut Mom and Dad out of your life. They care about you more than anything and they will do anything for you. Do not ever be afraid to go to them if you need help, they will always be there. If you have a Friday night where you don't have any plans, hangout with them. Ask them if they want to go to dinner or a movie, they will 100 percent of the time drop what they are doing to spend time with you. They are going to drive you crazy these next few years before you leave, but trust me when I say you are going to miss them the second they leave you at school. It may not always seem like it, but I promise they know what they're talking about.

So, while I'm not always going to be physically there, don't forget that I am just a phone call away. High school is easy, but don't make it too easy. Boys are so very stupid and I promise you that when he hurts you, I will be right there for you. High school is fun. Enjoy it and don't let the time get away from you, because you're going to grow up so fast and it's going to get very real and very scary, very fast. Keep your head held high, make as many memories as you can, work as hard as you can, and do not ever go a day without telling your mom and dad that you love them.

I love you to the moon and back—see you soon, sister.

girl with a hat

This is for the girls who have dealt with an emotionally, mentally, physically or verbally abusive father.

The ones who have grown up with a false lens of what love is and how relationships should be. The ones who have cried themselves to sleep wondering why he hurts you and your family so much. This is for all the girls who fall in love with broken boys that carry baggage bigger than their own, thinking it's their job to heal them because you watched your mother do the same.

Blair Waldorf Quote
"DESTINY IS FOR LOSERS. IT'S JUST A STUPID EXCUSE TO WAIT FOR THINGS TO HAPPEN INSTEAD OF MAKING THEM HAPPEN." - BLAIR WALDORF.

The world stopped in 2012 when our beloved show "Gossip Girl" ended. For six straight years, we would all tune in every Monday at 9:00 p.m. to see Upper Eastside royalty in the form of a Burberry headband clad Blair Waldorf. Blair was the big sister that we all loved to hate. How could we ever forget the epic showdowns between her and her frenemy Serena Van Der Woodsen? Or the time she banished Georgina Sparks to a Christian summer camp? How about that time when she and her girls took down Bart Bass? Blair is life. She's taught us how to dress, how to be ambitious, and most importantly, how to throw the perfect shade.

too tired to care

We've all been there. From move-in day to the first finals week in college, your first term is an adventure from start to finish. In honor of college decisions coming out recently, I want to recap some of the most common experiences college freshmen experience.

1. The awkward hellos on move-in day.

You're moving your stuff onto your floor, and you will encounter people you don't know yet in the hallway. They live on your floor, so you'll awkwardly smile and maybe introduce yourself. As you walk away, you will wonder if they will ever speak to you again, but don't worry, there's a good chance that you will make some great friends on your floor!

Recently I completed my freshman year of college, and boy, what an experience. It was a completely new learning environment and I can't believe how much I learned. In an effort to save time, here are the ten biggest lessons I learned from my first year of college.

1. Everyone is in the same boat

For me, the scariest part of starting school was that I was alone, that I wouldn't be able to make any friends and that I would stick out. Despite being told time and time again that everyone had these same feelings, it didn't really click until the first day when I saw all the other freshman looking as uneasy and uncomfortable as me. Therefore, I cannot stress this enough, everyone is feeling as nervous as you.
