15 Thoughts You Have Before, During, And After A Phone Interview

Phone interviews are part of most hiring processes. For the interviewer, it's a way to talk one-on-one with the best candidates and narrow down the field. For the person being interviewed, however, it's incredibly stressful. If it goes well, it gives you the chance to advance to the next step and possibly get the job. If it goes badly, it can be the end of what you'd hoped for. Even though the preparation can be scary, the more you do, the easier they'll go.

Here are thoughts that you have before, during, and after a phone interview.

1. I don’t know how to prepare for this.

2. Will this be better than an in-person interview?

3. At least I can have my resume to look at during this.

4. I’ve lost count of how many tips for phone interviews I’ve read.

5. How can I make myself sound hireable through just my voice?

6. What am I supposed to do if they don’t call me?

7. I’m not even sure I want the phone to ring.

8. Oh no, the phone’s ringing. Here goes nothing.

9. I hope these answers sound intelligent.

10. This is going better than I thought it would.

11. At least, that’s what I think.

12. I honestly can’t remember anything I said.

13. I did the best that I could.

14. I’m so glad it’s over...

15. ... Until the next time I have to do a phone interview, that is!

beer on the beach

Summer is hot and humid, and it's almost like summer was made specifically to drink the refreshing, cold, crisp wonderful, delicious, nutritious nectar of the gods. Which is none other than beer; wonderful cold beer. With summer playing peek-a-boo around the corner while we finish up this semester, it's time to discuss the only important part of summer. bruce springsteen album cover born in the usa

Anyone who was born and raised in New Jersey (or anywhere really) knows of Bruce Springsteen, whether or not they like him is a whole other situation. I hope that his hundreds of classic rock songs and famous high energy performances, even in his sixties he can put on better concerts than people half his age, are at least recognizable to people of all ages. Love him or hate him (I identify with the former) you have to admit that some of his songs and interviews have inspirational quotes and lyrics.
