Thoughts From A Football Player's Girlfriend

"Wait.....what just happened?!"

Thoughts From A Football Player's Girlfriend

My boyfriend played football throughout college, so I sat through a lot of football games. Home and away, I was always there. I loved that I got to watch him play almost every single game of his college career, however, I do not have the most knowledge about football. And by that, I mean none. Here are a few of the many thoughts that go through my head during a football game.

*Arrives at the stadium approximately 1 hour before the game starts to get a good seat*

Is the game starting yet, because I’ve been sitting here forever!!

Yay, football!!

Wait, what just happened?

What do they even decide in the coin toss?

He’s a captain so that's pretty awesome!

Oh god, I would be scared if he was running toward me!

GOOOO BBBBAAAABBBBBEEEEEE!!!

Thank god we all have matching shirts, that's really what's important here.

Are we on offense or defense?

How can you tell?

What does it mean when they catch the ball and then take a knee?

Why doesn’t anyone pick up the ball?

Wait, why isn’t he playing?!

Oh, we’re still on defense.

Why won’t he look at me!?

I’m cheering for him, do you think he can hear me?

Look at this super cute sign that I made and glittered myself!! He better appreciate this!

If one more person asks me what number he is, I'm going to loose my mind!! It's on my sign...DUH.

Why is this taking so long?

Is it halftime yet?

There are so many opportunities for pictures.

These cheerleaders are in my way, don’t they know I can’t see through them? I guess it doesn’t really matter too much, I don’t know what’s going on anyway.

Who wants nachos!?

Wait, I missed something cool!

What just happened?

Why did we get so many points for that?

*Asks male behind me what just happened, eye roll*

YYYYEEEAAAAHHHHH!!!! GOOOO #60!!!!!!!!!!

He definitely heard me that time!

I’m bored

And hungry

Now is it halftime?!

Okay, cool, now we get to sit for a second

Annnndddddd, third quarter.

Annndddd, I’m still confused

Will somebody tell me when we’re on offense again so that I’ll make sure and pay attention?

MADE IT ON THE BIG SCREEN WITH MY POSTER!! YESS!!!!!

This is why we come to football games.

Shoutout to my friends who come to these games with me.

Is the game over yet?

What about now?

No? Okay, still waiting

*waits approximately 30 minutes after the game just to get a picture*

OMG. SO MUCH SWEAT!! Can we not actually touch in this picture??

Okay, now we can go home.

What’s for dinner?

So basically, what I've learned is that I've learned nothing in the four years that I avidly watched football. But I had a lot of fun doing it! If you're anything like me I suggest getting a football for dummies book, or googling the majority of your questions so that you don't look completely ridiculous when you ask your boyfriend what the coin toss is for. Happy football-watching and gold star for all of you girlfriends who are at all the games rain, shine, snow, or hurricane!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
