No one really likes the end of summer break, especially when it's almost time to go back to school and you realize that you have done nothing the entire break. You don’t have a tan, didn’t travel and you sat around for most of the time eating, so you feel as though you gained the freshman 15 in three months (and you’re no longer a freshman).
It is the end of summer and for everyone that feels as though they were left out on a few fun adventures, you just have to remember that there is always another summer around the long corner.
Those feelings that you get inside when it is that time to go back can be difficult for everyone.
1. Those last minute hangouts.
Anyone who texts you and asks you to hang out, you'll try to schedule them in. Even if it is someone that you haven't necessarily talked to while away.
2. Not knowing if you did everything before you left.
Dentist… check, haircut… check, eye exam. It is hard to remember to do everything. Could you have done it earlier in the summer? Of course, but then it wouldn’t be as relevant as it would be the week before returning, which there is nothing wrong with.
3. On your way back to school, it feels like as though you may have forgotten every important item.
Though your parents could always ship it to you, there's always that moment where you feel as though you’re going to be completely unprepared.
4. Having to say “see you soon.”
The hardest things are the goodbyes. Sometimes there are tears, sometimes its just "see ya," and other times there are moments where you never want to let go and just take all of the people you love with you. Best friends, boyfriends, girlfriends, they’re all hard. Parents aren’t as hard, but there is also that leaving nest feeling that you can’t seem to shake.
5. Seeing your other friends.
There is a part of you that is very excited to go back to school. No rules, seeing your friends that you basically live with, and going out 'til all hours of the night.
6. The realization.
The moment you discover that, for the next few years, it is a countdown to when you start becoming an adult. No one wants to get into that job world so quickly. These are the moments where we are supposed to live. To respond and speak our minds while becoming adults, but still trying to maintain the concept of fun.
It is hard to realize, but if you think about it, summer is the end and the beginning of something new. It is the end of another year at school and it is the beginning of bringing you closer to adulthood.
Throughout college, you only have three summers to experience things around the world, unless you don’t get a job straight out of college. The point is, everyone wishes that summer could last forever, but when school comes back around, there is that feeling of moving on and motivation.
