In light of Thanksgiving, I decided to keep track of things I've been thankful for in the past 30 days. It's amazing what you recognize as blessings when you are looking for them. I was pleasantly surprised at how much I have to grateful for. God is good.

Day One:

I am thankful for my mom, ceiling fans, cold brew coffee & clean sheets.

Day Two:

I am thankful for Hulu, My sweet boyfriend, fuzzy socks & running water.

Day Three:

I am thankful to be employed, for my roommates keeping the candy bowl stocked & FaceTime.

Day Four:

I am thankful for unexpectedly easy exams, cool fall days & chapstick.

Day Five:

I am thankful for my Dad, technology, a car with good gas mileage and no bake cookies.

Day Six:

Today I realized that sometimes days are no good and those are the days you have to give it to God and go to sleep. I'm thankful I have that and I'm thankful I know that.

Day Seven:

I am thankful for the rain, understanding professors & my health.

Day Eight:

I am thankful for my friends, microwaves & Dillon's fuel points

Day Nine:

I am thankful for acoustic versions of songs, Hobby Lobby, kind strangers and uninhibited laughter.

Day Ten:

Today I am thankful to be a writer. It is the most therapeutic outlet.

Day Eleven:

I am thankful for sleeping in, football and Bath & Body Works candles

Day Twelve:

I am thankful for John Mayer, a roof over my head & extra credit assignments.

Day Thirteen:

Today I am so glad that I can call my boyfriend about literally anything and he will listen, give me legitimately, honest advice, and then tell me he loves me.

Day Fourteen:

I am thankful for fuzzy blankets, rain boots, and french fries.

Day Fifteen:

I am thankful for God's relentless grace.

Day Sixteen:

I am thankful for Einstein Brothers Bagels.

Day Seventeen:

Today I am thankful that I can walk and talk with ease.

Day Eighteen:

I am thankful that it's almost break. That's it for today.

Day Nineteen:

Today I am thankful to be a student aid in the classroom that I am. Those third graders teach me more about how to be a decent person than any adult I've ever met.

Day Twenty:

I am thankful for color balance shampoo, cereal and Friends re-runs.

Day Twenty-One:

I am thankful for changed plans, forgiveness and the Yeti that keeps my coffee warm all morning long

Day Twenty-Two:

I am thankful for phone calls with my favorite little munchkins, Christmas music & hamburger helper.

Day Twenty-Three:

I am thankful for payday, quiet time and good books.

Day Twenty-Four:

Today I am just really glad that my friends love me all the time. Even in my messiest moments, I find comfort in knowing they love me wholeheartedly.

Day Twenty-Five:

I am thankful for folded laundry, long days being over & fresh flowers

Day Twenty-Six:

Today I am thankful for Taylor Swift's new album. It's been way. too. long.

Day Twenty-Seven:

I am thankful for Target, Christmas decorations & clear skin.

Day Twenty-Eight:

I am thankful for falling asleep early, being silly & prayers that bring you to your knees.

Day Twenty-Nine:

Today I am thankful for free coffee. Lots and lots of free coffee.

Day Thirty:

I am thankful my mom taught me how to gracefully handle tough situations.

In doing this I learned a few things: If you are looking for the good in things you will surely find it. Please remember to be grateful for all you have this holiday season and make the people around you feel appreciated. This is a good life, y'all.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
