Growing up on a farm is one of the biggest blessings in my life and I'm sure other farm kids can agree.
1. You're not afraid of hard work.

2. You can't sleep in on the weekends.
Your body is literally wired to be up at the crack of dawn. The animals need to be fed first thing in the morning and you've got a million other chores to be done. Sleeping in isn't an option, never has been never will be. rising early means more daylight for us to get things done and have a little fun in the field or hayloft whatever your preference.
3. Family means everything to you.

4. Most of your friends are farm kids too.
Odds are you weren't the only kid on the farm, you were accompanied by your cousins, neighbors and other farm kids. Your cousins are your best friends and so are the kids up the road who helped on the farm. You all grew up together and you wouldn't want it any other way. And you all still talk today about the fun times you had on the family farm
5. You have a huge heart.
You would give the shirt off your back, and give away your last dollar. Because that's how you were raised. You pick up strays and nurse them back to health, you had a favorite cow/pig/goat/chicken etc... you're always willing to help those in need asking nothing in return.
Being a farm kid taught me how to survive on my own two feet and how to rely on my family when I needed to. There were many valuable, irreplaceable lessons learned in the barn and shop at my grandparent's farm. I wouldn't trade one day of hauling feed and cleaning pig pens for anything. I know how to work for what I want and I don't expect to be handed anything. My childhood on a farm was one for the books.
