Spring is coming! Hopefully. The temperatures have been a little chilly lately but in a month or so it'll be warmer out so that Wisconsinites can finally do something fun outdoors. These seven activities and destinations will make you want to get outside in the fresh weather and prepare for spring.
1. Hurts Donuts
Hurts Donut Company is located in Middleton, Wisconsin. This place is truly one of the best donut places I've been to. Every summer, one of my friends and I drive the hour and a half just to get donuts from there. Trust me, it's totally worth it. They're open 24/7 so if you live in Madison or Middleton it's the perfect place for a donut stop when you're up at one a.m.!
2. Hiking, camping and swimming at Devil's Lake
I've never been much of a camper but I really appreciate the scenery and campsites at Devil's Lake and surrounding areas. The view is beautiful when hiking and you reach an open spot looking over the lake. The bluffs aren't a super challenging hike either so if you're a beginner hiker or like easier trails then I would definitely recommend Devil's Lake.
3. Camping
Camping is a really fun time when you're at the right spot. Wisconsin has some beautiful destinations like Devil's Lake as mentioned above, Mirror Lake campsites, and I hear Musky Lake is a good place to camp too. It's not expensive either to tent camp which I like better than camping in campers.
4. The Apostle Islands
I've never been to the Apostle Islands but I hear it's a good place to go. There's so much to do on the group of 22 islands. There's hiking, camping, kayaking, boating and there are even guided activities. They also have caves that you can see in the winter because Lake Superior is frozen in those parts during the winter.
5. Washington Island
The first time I went to Washington Island I was in middle school and we went on a family trip there in the fall. There's mostly bed and breakfasts' on Washington Island which are very nice. The second time I was there was when we played their high school in a basketball game. The ferry ride was freezing but it was a lot of fun. It's a good place to go for a weekend to get away from your everyday life and have some fun.
6. Milwaukee Brewers baseball game
Brewer games are always a good place to be, especially after last season. Miller Park is going to be getting a lot of traffic this summer with original, loyal and new fans.
7. Kettle Moraine State Forest
There are some beautiful hiking trails in the Kettle Moraine. I went hiking there a lot last summer and there's always new trails to find. There are campsites you can reserve and boating and fishing, too.
