As we are getting closer to spring break, it is important to start preparing for your upcoming road trip. Here are a few things that are a necessity to your next trip.

1. Sunglasses

Having a good pair of sunglasses for your trip is important because you will most likely be driving for long hours with the sun in your eyes. Having sun glasses can help your eyes from being damaged by the sun (which is a real problem for light eyed individuals) as well as giving you a really chic look.

2. Snacks

When you decide that you want to drive to Vegas for your spring break, you have to understand how long that trip or any other trip truly is. Bringing snacks is essential to having a successful road trip. One of the reasons for this, is so you do not have to buy food from the gas station. Pre-planning your food consumption for your trip can allow you to buy all the food you actually enjoy to eat, whether that means eating carrots, or eating Doritos. That is not to say that you will not buy food from the gas station, but you will spend less money from your local grocery store, than if you bought food at the gas station on the way.

3. Music

Perhaps the biggest disappointment to any road trip is no songs to remember it by. Music can do a number of things, the first of which is set the tone for your trip. If you are listening to somber music, you will most likely have a sad trip. This recommendation is to find the type of music you like, so that you can have the best trip possible. I personally jam out to some Taylor Swift every time I drive any amount of long distance

4. A way to play your music.

Perhaps the largest flaw with a lot of trip planning is forgetting that you need a way to play your music. People remember to download their favorite songs and albums to rock out to for the trip, but forget the key ingredient to being able to listen to it: Aux cables. Most car radios these days have a port to plug your aux cable into so that you can have your music playing through your sound system, so remembering that cable is essential for a successful trip. Absent the aux port, you could also purchase a FM transmitter that plugs into your DC connector port (the electronic cigarette lighter). If you happen to be traveling by yourself, you could also bring some earbuds to jam

5. A friend.

There are a few reasons why your road trip will be significantly better with a friend or friends with you. The first is that you can break up the amount of time that you have to drive between a few different people which can help keep stiffness out of the trip. Also that will keep your mood a bit lighter. The second is that having human interaction on longer trips can help keep you sane as you travel. Perhaps you won't yell at as many people! The third is a reduction in overall cost of the trip. Splitting the cost of gas between multiple people can really help keep your trip affordable. Finally, your friend(s) might remember something that you forget, like the snacks or the aux cord. Plus, trips are so much more memorable when you have friends that you can share that experience with.

These are the five crucial elements to really make your next road trip a huge success.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
