The end of the spring semester of college is a blessing.

Once finals are finished and hopefully crushed, the summer is all yours. Going back home for a few months is extremely refreshing and well needed.

There are some aspects you might miss about college, including your friends and your freedom, but there are definitely plenty of reasons to want to leave for the summer.

1. Twin XL bed

I honestly don't know how I've dealt with sleeping in this thing for this long. I will not miss you, at all.

2. Dining hall food

My dining hall food isn't really even that bad, but it gets old eventually. Even if my parents aren't the best in the food department, I will be looking forward to home-cooked meals.

3. Paper thin walls

The WORST thing about trying to sleep at college is how thin the walls are. You can literally hear every single movement or door closed from the hallway and even the floor above you.

4. Excessive amounts of studying

College = studying. Time to take a break, boys.

5. Extremely small showers

Have you ever tried shaving your legs in a shower the size of a box? Not as easy as it sounds, trust me.

6. Taking the bus for transportation

The bus isn't the worst thing ever, but waiting in line and not knowing when it will come is a horrible guessing game.

7. Or needing to spend all my money on Uber

I'm sure all my money will go towards something else now, like gas. I just can't wait to have a car back.

8. Going to early morning classes

Going to work at 8 am sure beats going to learn chemistry at 8 am. Here's to sleeping in this summer.

9. Hot and sweaty dorm rooms

For a school with air conditioning in the dorms, these dorms are still sure hot as hell. I will not miss waking up basically drenched every morning.

10. Shitty weather

I know it's not college's fault that the weather is only good when we aren't in session. But really though, summer is long overdue.

Of course like I previously mentioned I will miss certain aspects of the college lifestyle this summer. I'm especially not looking forward to having a curfew or having to share my car. I will miss my friends the most, and living so far away from people you shared a room with will be a huge adjustment. But for now, I'm looking forward to moving out and getting back home.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
