"Skins" (UK) debuted in 2007 and played on air until 2013. The show was based in the UK and ran for a total of seven seasons.
This show was about teenagers making their way through high school while having way too much fun doing it. There are three “generations” of characters the show follows for two seasons each. The seventh season wraps up unfinished business with the first and second generations.
There are a few things that only Skins fans understand.
1. You loved or hated Effy.
You have to admit she was batsh*t crazy more than half of the time and she really didn't care about anything, ever. That can be seen as annoying or really awesome to fans. There is no in-between.
2. Cook was insane, but you loved every bit of it.
As much as it's true that Cook is a massive jerk and did most things on purpose to upset the people around him, he was kind to the people who mattered in the end.
3. When you see "Skins" actors in different roles, you can’t help but to only think about them in the "Skins" world.
This is super difficult, especially when looking at Kaya Scodelario who plays Effy. She has more roles, especially now as Teresa in "Maze Runner" and Carina in "Pirates of the Caribbean".
Another one of my favorite "Skins" characters, Emily, who is played by Kathryn Prescott, was in an MTV show "Finding Carter". The only reason why I watched that show was because she was in it.
4. When Freddie died, you wanted to throw your TV.
The same can be said for Chris and Grace when they died. Don’t mention Naomi to me! Doesn’t count!
5. Naomi and Emily were the cutest couple ever!
Besides their issues, in most of Season 4, they were my first example of a good lesbian couple and they set my baseline for what I want in a relationship.
6. All of Season 7 was unfair and a waste.
Naomi didn’t die, okay? Don’t kill off half of the best couple in "Skins"! Don’t ruin Cook for me!
7. You love that "Skins" addressed important issues in an average teen's life.
"Skins" went into issues like self-harm, suicide, depression, sexuality issues, mental health and even eating disorders. The fact that these shows didn’t shy away from the hard stuff made it that much more realistic.
8. "Skins" parties made you jealous.
You always wished you had attended a party like the ones they threw in "Skins". Keep me away from the nightclub in S4 E1, though.
9. You tried to watch "Skins US" and couldn’t do it because it was trash.
It really was.
