Thanksgiving is finally over so now you can get your trees out, hang your lights up, and turn the Christmas music on. I love Christmas but it’s another holiday that everyone seems to get wrapped up in too much and forgets the reason that we get to celebrate it in the first place. Please, don’t forget the true reason for the season. So many of us are quick to be caught in the gifts and the holiday parties that we forget the real reason to celebrate Christmas.
As you’re rushing from one store to the next and you’re texting and calling everyone you know to make sure you get them the perfect gift, slow yourself down. Stop and thank God for allowing you to celebrate a holiday such as this one.
Christmas is a time where we get to celebrate the most wonderful birthday of all we should be singing “Happy Birthday Jesus” and knowing that because of this we get to spend extra time with our family members, showering them in gifts and letting them know how thankful we are for them. Go to your church and celebrate the reason for the season with your church family. Find that candlelight service and go out and celebrate Jesus.
Christmas is the holiday where from after Thanksgiving up until the day of Christmas everyone that you come in contact with will say “Merry Christmas” and it’s the little things like that, that remind us just how special the holidays are. When you pass someone, say “Merry Christmas” don’t shorten it to “X-mas” remember that CHRIST is the reason we are here, he is the only reason for all of it so don’t get rid of him, don’t cut him out and don’t forget to wish him a “Happy Birthday” too.
Enjoy your family through this wonderful holiday season. Teach your children of the real reasons that we get to celebrate them and don’t let them ever forget about it. Sing happy birthday to Jesus. Watch the funny, sad, romantic, Disney, and so many more Christmas movies with your family. Start a new tradition and continue to keep the old ones alive. I hope you all are blessed with the best holiday season.
