We often hear people talking about soulmates and for many, the word "soulmates" sounds like that one goal everyone wants to achieve while growing in a relationship. We build an image of a soulmate who, in our minds, is as close as possible to being perfect!

However, the stereotypical thinking suggests that soulmates are either life partners or a significant other but I think a soulmate is that dependable person who is available any hour of the day or night. This is one person who believes in you, easily connects with your personality and will stand by you when the whole world walks out.

We all want an escape from any unfavorable situations. In relationships, when sometimes things are not what we expect them to be, we fantasize for a better life and we feed our brain the hope that tomorrow will be better than today which is great! Nevertheless, our soulmates sometimes come in different faces. And for those of us who are lucky, our soulmate is right in front of us. Because we are always looking for better, we miss acknowledging what we already have.

I knew a guy, his name was Allen, he was madly in love with Jasmine. He fell for her from the moment he laid his eyes on her. But Jasmine was over ambitious she was looking for a soulmate with a strong financial background. Allen realized his pocket is too small to effort her so he never expressed his true feeling but supported her in everything she did. Jasmine spoke about her soulmate in such a way like he would come in a shining armor and sweep her off her feet...

Allen would always give her a patient hearing, eventually, he became that friend she never had, she would always run to him with any problems and he would solve it for her. He encouraged her to try new things, broke her fears that were holding her back. She had domestic problems that would distract her but he taught her to focus despite the difficulties. As she was completing her college, she was short of funds for classes and there again he stepped in and helped her.

By the time Jasmine graduated, she realized it was Allen who was her true soulmate.

His selflessness made her realize a lot of things. Despite knowing she was always waiting for that one perfect soulmate, Allen never left her side and he never took advantage of her instead he stood like a supporting pillar. He introduced her to her true self and brought her to her own spotlight and indirectly made her understand a strong financial balance cannot replace selflessness or sincerity.

Finally, Jasmine proposed Allen, once they were engaged, Allen then started expressing all that love he had bottled in for all these years and all that love came to Jasmine live a huge wave of the sea which did sweep her off her feet!

Sometimes we just need to slow down and see what we have around us! True happiness does not begin with a fat bank balance.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
