Moving from Baltimore, Maryland to New York City, I have noticed a lot of differences in the lifestyle the people live and ways that I have started to live my life. New York City is known as the "City That Never Sleeps" and that is more than true. The New York City culture and lifestyle is always uptempo and fast paced. Everyone is walking for a reason to somewhere in particular to do something specific. No one is looking downwards while walking. Everyone is looking in the direction they are walking, and they walk at a fast pace. And the same is definitely true for me. I walk fast, some people say too fast, and I am always walking for a reason.

When it comes down to it, New York City is all about productivity I would say. The way people are always trying to be productive has changed my working habits and my daily schedule. Before going to college in New York City, I'll admit, I didn't have the best grades in high school. I do think that some of the reason why that was, was because I didn't feel as motivated. Since coming to New York City and pursuing my dream, I can say that my grades so far *knock on wood* have been the highest ever in my life! I think a big part of it is because I'm surrounded by so many productive and motivated people that their motivation and productivity has influenced me to do my best.

Which additionally, has made me want to be more productive not just with school work, but with my daily life. I have gone from wanting to go straight home and rest, when I was in Baltimore, to being in New York City, and coming home from class every day wanting to do something productive with my day. Things such as: going to a show, a museum, walking through Central Park, and so much more. As long as I'm out of my room and doing something that I enjoy with people I really like then I have had a good day.

These are just some of the ways New York City has changed my lifestyle for the better. I do encourage that no matter where you live, in a uptempo city or not, try and be as productive as possible. It is ok to rest, however try to do at least one thing every day that gets you do be productive in some way. It will make you feel better about you and your life.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
