Traveling to new places has always been one of my favorite pastimes.

For years, I have been dreaming of seeing different parts of the world because I have been fascinated by the idea of traveling. Unfortunately for me, I have only been to three countries in my whole life. Those are the USA, Mexico, and The Bahamas.

While I am not sure if I will get these opportunities to travel to these places, I still remain hopeful that one day I will be able to see them all. Either through a study abroad program or finding some other way to travel to different places, I am making it a goal of mine to travel further in the coming years. Here are my top ten countries I want to travel to in the coming years.

10. France

France has always seemed like an interesting place to visit. The main location I would like to see in France would be Paris. If I were to visit there, I would eat baguettes and a bunch of delicious pastries. Jimmy Buffett, I'd also love to get caught with the warm summer breezes and french wines and cheeses. Additionally, I'd plan on visiting the museums and take a great pose for an Instagram picture underneath the Eiffel Tower. If they have some good beaches in the country, expect me to hit up those as well.

9. Australia and New Zealand

Ok, I know these are two different countries. But I decided to include both them in one since they are very close in distance and essentially offer the same activities and are really not much different from each other. One of my favorite hobbies is to go snorkeling in the oceans. I was able to do that twice in Puerto Rico, and absolutely loved the scenery of the fish and the wonderful views marine life had to offer. I cannot imagine how incredible it must be to go snorkeling on the coast of Australia and New Zealand, where marine life is King of the oceans.

8. England

Similar to France, I want to visit this country for the prime city in the country, London. If I were to get to London, I'd try their delicious food they have to offer at pubs. But unlike Paris, expect me to fill my Instagram feed with more pictures. I'd expect to crack big likes with pictures of me at red telephone booths, English pubs, in front of the English Channel, and anywhere else iconic in London where I can post amazing pictures at.

7. The Netherlands

I've been very intrigued to visit this country ever since I had to do a report on it for my Geography class during my sophomore year of high school. If you don't know me well, I will let you in on a little secret. I absolutely love to party hard and go to the bars in Iowa City. All of my friends who have studied abroad go crazy with partying in Amsterdam, and I can only imagine how I would get at the bars in Amsterdam. Beyond the party scene, The Netherlands has beautiful scenery all around the country. I'd make Tiny Tim proud when I tiptoe through the tulips.

6. Canada

I actually was quite close to driving up to Canada with my buddies for a Spring Trip this year. Unfortunately, things were not going to work out this year since it was a little expensive for college students. But in all seriousness, this is the easiest one I can get done. Since I live in the Chicago area, I don't even need a plane to get up to this country and could hypothetically get to Canada in 10-11 hours by car while saving a ton of money by not using airfare. One attraction I would love to hit up is the Hockey Hall of Fame, and I would love to find great places to go fishing throughout Canada.

5. Aruba

Ok, basically my dream in life is to get my Senior Year Spring Break trip and go to a tropical all-inclusive resort with a bunch of friends like many of my high school friends did during their senior years of high school. Honestly, I would take anywhere in Mexico, The Bahamas, or even the Dominican Republic. Since I have been to Mexico and The Bahamas before, they were not eligible to be placed on this list. I almost chose the DR, but ultimately decided Aruba because I believe the whole island scene looks prettier than the Dominican Republic. But basically, if I can get a vacation with a bunch of friends to an all-inclusive tropical resort in any of those four countries, I could finally die in peace.

4. Spain

I know many people who got to go on a trip to Spain with my high school. The bad news for me, this trip began a few days after I graduated from high school, and was ineligible to attend this trip. Even if I was still in high school, knowing myself, I would've stayed back and trained for football anyways so I don't feel too bad about missing this one. But all of the views I saw on my Snapchat and Instagram feed during those ten days in June 2016 were enough to convince me that I have to see Spain one day. The castles and history component are very appealing to me, as I love learning about other cultures and their history. While I want to see as much of this country as I possibly can, I want to go to Barcelona more than anywhere in this country. Reason being, the world-reknown beaches of course.

3. Germany

This one gets the nod over Spain because of the food aspect. About 30-40 minutes from my house, there is this German restaurant where they serve food as if it was prepared in Germany. I loved how they prepared their food, and I bet it is a million times better in Germany. I used to have neighbors who came from Germany to America for work for about four years, and I was very delighted whenever they brought German chocolate for the family. I'd aim for going to Oktoberfest. My friend who studied abroad attended Oktoberfest, and he said it was easily one of the best times of his life, and Snapchat didn't even capture 1/64 of it. I cannot forget to mention, I would love to try authentic German beer. That has been one drink which has always sounded appealing to me.

2. Ireland

This is one I've wanted to see since I was about five. I have a ton of family history tracing back to Ireland, and would love to discover what my ancestors were like. A kiss on the Blarney Stone, along with a bunch of wonderful scenery all around is what makes Ireland a must-see place. However, as much as I want to visit Ireland, I am kind of hoping to wait on this one until I get good at playing golf. It would be incomplete for me if I went to Ireland and didn't get a round of golf in. And unfortunately, I am many years away from being able to play on the World's most prestigious golf courses since I have a huge lacking of experience.

1. Italy

Italy is ranked number one simply because it has everything I am looking for. I love Italian food and restaurants back here in the states. So, it's a pretty safe bet that I would go crazy eating at restaurants in Italy. Then, you've got the history aspect. Italy has so much fascinating history to it for me to learn firsthand. Structures that have remained standing still for thousands of years also makes Italy a must see. Then, you've got the Vatican City, where I would spend all day trying to track down Pope Francis. And for the part of me that loves the coastlines, there's the Cinque Terre for me to check out. With so much to offer, it is a sure bet I would clog up my Instagram feed with so many great pictures if I ever do get to visit Italy.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
