Before we knew anyone else or had any friends, our lives revolved around our parents, and their lives revolved us. They fed us, entertained us and more importantly, they just dealt with us being high strung small children. They were real life super-heroes, and as the years have passed by their "super powers" evolved with us. Today, as a young adult, I still see my parents as being super heroes in a number of ways that never fail to amaze me.
1. They can read people's minds
If you've ever brought someone home, whether it's a friend or a significant other and they are bad news, your parents will be the first to know. They can read deep into their minds and see their true intentions.
2. Best immune systems
3. Super speed
My parents are not
4. Mood control
For all those girls who were 13-years-old and obsessed with Twilight, you'll understand what it means when I say my mother can control emotions. When she walks in a room, the whole entire room can feel her emotion, which in turn controls what our emotions will be in that situation.
5. Omniscience
They know everything and anything. Since they grew up in a different time where Chicago math didn't exist, they naturally are already better at math. Even more so, they have lived for decades longer so they have just accumulated so much more knowledge. Anything from trying to figure out how to book a flight or file for FASFA, I can count on my parents to know not only how to do it, but they best way to do it.
6. Invisibility
Take this scenario: You're walking around the grocery and suddenly your mother has disappeared in the five seconds it took you to go grab a loaf of bread. She is literally nowhere to be found in the store, it seems as if she has gone ~invisible~.
7. Super Human Sight
Even if they don't tell you they know, they know that you snuck out the night before, and they saw you leave. Any lie you are certain you are in the clear of, in reality they saw the whole plan unfolding.
8. Their lives are together
Okay, okay, now I understand that at 6-years-old you don't think having your life together is an actual super power, but by the time you are on your own in college and have 4 exams in a week and bills to pay, you realize what a super power it actually is to have your life together.
9. Echolocation
Known as being able to know the location of an object with the help of sound waves, which would make sense that your mom can find something you've been looking for for 12 hours in the matter of 2 minutes.
10. They save the day
Whether I'm fighting with my best friend, got a bad grade on my math test or am just having a crummy day, I can call my parents and they will know exactly how to fix my day. Even just hearing their voice can help.
The parents of the world
