I have grown up on the East coast my entire life, so throughout the year I have learned to love all four seasons. They all have something special that comes about with them. The spring is the time of new beginnings and new life. There is nothing quite like the smell of a freshly bloomed flower and the buzzing of a honey bees swarming it. Summer brings about the feeling of freedom and adventure. The weather is finally warm enough to come out of your cozy blankets and be outside, go on vacations, and take a break from school or work, even if it is only for a few weeks.
Fall is one of my favorite seasons and slowly prepares your body for the cold that is about to invade your town, but in the process of that fall is one of the most beautiful times of the year. The leaves change, sweater weather starts, and you you can finally drink hot coffee and cocoa again. Also, let's not forget everything becomes pumpkin flavored and who does not love that.
Then last, but certainly not least, comes winter and since it is quickly approaching and or has started for some of us technically, I want to talk about why winter is one of a kind and how all the west coast folks are missing out on some of the most precious times of the year.
Once all the leaves fall from the trees and the temperature drops below freezing, you know what time of year it is. It is the time for big cozy sweaters, fires, presents, giving, family and holiday cheer. As all of us students impatiently wait for our winter break we all blast christmas and other holiday music from out cars, phones, and speaker sin our apartments.
We all have a certain feeling of love and cannot wait to be home with our families celebrating and de-stressing and while all of that is good and fun, there is one thing that I think we can all agree on it way better than that, the first snow. The first snow is one of the most magically times of the whole year. Once you see those few crystalline flakes float through the wind, you can feel the holidays coming around the corner. You watch as they continue to fall from the sky and hope for a snow day or even a delay and maybe even wear your pjs inside out or put a spoon in your pillow case. You feel as if you are in a snowglobe and cannot wait to run out and make snow angels or catch those snowflakes on your tongue.
There are so many fun things to do once the snow comes and there is no better feeling than walking into a warm cozy room after fighting the cold and snow outside. Nothing can even come close to the very beginning of feelings that come along with winter and I just hope that one day every person gets to experience the magic of a first snow.
