Ni Hao! It’s the one and only Auntie Ashanti here. We, in the United States of America, have just experienced yet another Christmas holiday season. It’s one of my favorite times of the year and not just because it’s my birthday month. I’m coming to you sugars today with something I’m passionate about. Movies! I love movies of all kinds and so what better way to prepare for the Chinese New Year (February 16th, 2018) than with a movie review?
The 48 episodes long, “The King’s Woman,” star Dilraba Dilmurat (Ten Miles of Peach Blossoms) and Zhang Bin Bin (Love O2O). This Chinese historical romance is a highly dramatized account of the Warring States period when King Yin Zheng united China under one banner and began the Qin dynasty spanning the years of 221 BC to 207 BC. The real-life historical part of this drama is fascinating, but too long for a movie review. To put it in modern slang, Gongsun Li (Dilraba Dilmurat) is bae goals for all the thirsty men during this timeframe. Bae’s body and face slay dragons, ghouls, goblins, and the devil himself with little effort. The irresistible granddaughter and apprentice of a legendary military commander even have her two older classmates trying to pin the tail on the donkey. Gongsun Li swiped right on the younger of her two senior classmates, stunting goo-goo eyes sparkling like Rihanna’s diamonds.
Unfortunately, for Li, there is someone who is thirstier than her bae goals and with more power to boot. “Yin Zheng”-Zhang Bin Bin wants the donkey so bad he’s willing to kill anyone and everyone to get it. Talk about thirsty like a man with a broken leg in the middle of the desert. Now I don’t want to tell the storyline because that’s for you fine folks to go and watch for yourself. I do recommend this film to everyone willing to sit through the subtitles and every episode. Don’t be bougie! Learn to read, it’s fun. With the amount of plot twist in this film, it shouldn’t surprise you why I do not have hair.
I laughed, cried, was pissed off and like WTF! I love emotional rollercoasters though, but maybe I’m weird. I was literally on the edge of my seat and not just because I’m short. Don’t hate, short people kick the hell out of shins. For those of you, who do end up watching this drama to the end, tell me what you think. Is there room for a sequel or two? What about a backstory? If you didn’t like the drama, then I need to know why and what’s wrong with you. Anyways loves, Auntie Ashanti needs her beauty rest cause bae has to go to work. As always, be good or be good at it!
