I'm 18 now and my tastes in music, books, clothes, etc. are so different from how they were when I was in middle school. Obviously, I have grown and changed and matured, so it makes sense for my interests and likes to change as well. Recently, because of all the extra time I've had due to quarantine, I have started going back and looking at things I used to be interested in when I was younger. I've started to reanalyze these things, and I have noticed so much. For example, I have rewatched TV shows and movies that I was obsessed with and it has been a very interesting experience. I've been able to find new details that I never noticed and I've been able to recognize references that confused me when I was younger. Rereading books that once kept me engrossed was another interesting experience because many of these books seem childish and immature to me in the present, but when I was younger they were the best things I had ever read. I also got a chance to look at things I wrote in middle school and even early highschool, such as poems, short stories, etc. My writing style has changed so much. I used to use lots of adjectives to make my writing sparkly and descriptive, and I thought by doing this my writing would be so amazing. Taking a second look at my writing has shown me what I have learned ad how my style has change; it has also shown me how much I've matured. Re-analyzing all these things all over again brought me back to different points in my life, and although I was seeing things I hadn't before, I also felt major nostalgia. It reminded me that my life and the world around me has changed so much, and that I will never get those times back. I think it is so important to go back and take a look at things from your past because it can show you how much you've changed as a person, and I think that's really cool.
