10 years ago, leggings made their debut in society. They were paired with dresses and skirts for elementary-aged girls. 10 years later, leggings are the most popular pants worn among younger generations. They are famous for their versatility, sleekness, and comfort. Leggings and their prices have a positive correlation, and as leggings gained popularity, their prices increased... a lot.
Brands like Lulu Lemon and Victoria's Secret are forming a monopoly in the world of leggings. But do we really have to continue to pay a small fortune for these - not that spectacular - leggings? I did some research and made a list of the cheapest leggings. My goal was to try them all out and rate them from worst to best.
So, without further ado... the leggings list!
1. Forever 21
The leggings I purchased from Forever 21 may work if you do not mind them being completely see-through. These leggings are thin and rip easily (ripped the first time I wore them). The material does not stretch and is very itchy. Overall, these leggings are the worst ones I tried. While they can be paired with oversized sweaters and jackets that will cover the see-through areas, these are not my first pick.
Price: $3.90
2. Rue 21
I bought my Rue 21 Leggings expecting cheap, thin, and see-through material due to the low price. When I tried them on, I was very surprised. While these leggings will not be the top pick, they definitely are not the worst ones I tried. The stretchiness of the material and thickness of it is what draws me towards these leggings. They are perfect for pairing with a t-shirt and sweatshirt since they're a little more on the athletic side. Overall, a decent pick.
Price: $9.99
3. AerieĀ
These Aerie Leggings are a top pick for their support and thickness. These leggings will hold you up in all the right places and are sure to last you a long time. The only downsides to these leggings are the price and length. If you are on the taller side, these leggings may not be for you. Being 5'6", these leggings stop above the ankle. While all other areas of the leggings are form-fitting, the bottoms tend to loosen up and flare out. Overall, these are the perfect everyday leggings.
Price: $19.95
4. Walmart
Are you surprised? So was I. While I always had a preconceived idea that Walmart clothing was cheap and flimsy due to their low prices, these leggings hit it out of the ballpark. These leggings are more athletic than an average pair of leggings, but they can be paired with almost anything. They are extremely stretchy and thick and hold their place on your hips all day. Walmart's Active Works leggings are undeniably the best pair of leggings for their price.
