There are so many Christmas movies out there. If you're a true Christmas fanatic, you definitely have your favorites. What constitutes someone's favorite depends on certain things. Maybe it has to do with one's generation. Maybe it has connections to specific memories from growing up.

My favorites are based on my generation, growing up as a kid in the nineties. I also have a love for the timeless classics and some that might surprise you. Here are the five Christmas movies that defined the holiday for me.

5. "A Christmas Story"

This incredibly relatable story is a timeless classic. We've all had that one gift we obsessed over when we were kids. There's also plenty of laughs to be had in this film! From Ralphie's cursing father to his imaginative fantasies, this is a Christmas movie for everyone.

4. "The Santa Clause"

If you were a kid in the nineties, this movie is definitely considered a classic. This film acts as a peek inside the logistics of becoming Santa Claus. Starring Tim Allen, this holiday hit features lots of humor. There's also a dramatic tale of a broken family beneath the surface. Ultimately, this is an uplifting and festive tale sure to put you in the Christmas spirit.

3. "Home Alone"

This iconic holiday film celebrates its 30th anniversary this year. We would expect children to be paralyzed with fear if they were left alone, but Kevin McCallister is here to prove us wrong. He outsmarts the Wet Bandits by setting up a series of traps all around his house. What follows is among the most iconic slapstick moments in film history.

2. "Home Alone 2: Lost in New York"

While most would argue this is a mere repeat of the first film, I have to disagree. Not only that, but I prefer this to the first film. Maybe I'm biased, being a New Yorker, but New York makes the Home Alone story so much better. It's like a love letter to the city, while the city acts as another character. Plus, Tim Curry delivers a hilarious performance!

1. "A Diva's Christmas Carol"

While this might not be the most famous version of this story, this is certainly my favorite. Vanessa Williams plays Ebony Scrooge, a pop diva who embodies every element of that word, good and bad. Chili from TLC and Kathy Griffin also have roles in this as well. It is a smart and funny re-telling of a Christmas classic that never fails to put me in the holiday spirit!

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
